Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

Who knows, maybe they’ll call someone in for wicker man. I’m basically at the park now anyway.

Except it is too windy and cold for rides to run so it does have to do with the weather...
Do you see anytime over 2° on the Met Office website?

Also if they risked it imagine something went wrong like Wicker Man stalling/valleying. Can see the headlines now: Accident on Alton Towers' new coaster's first day! They will definitely want to play it safe, and if the Met Office have advised them against opening - they won't open.

Am I making it up, or did Blackpool run moreorless as normal a fortnight ago when the weather was actually bad?
I've definitely been at Alton in worse than this - and for reasons best known to myself, I'm awake, now wondering how else to kill the morning!!

Please Alton, look outside! Step outside! Examine those rides and see if the weather permits you to open them! If the weather suddenly takes a turn for the worse, just close them!

Hilarious this. Standard Alton Towers. Fact is, they've told the staff not to turn up and didn't have the courtesy to tell people that the coasters would DEFINITELY be closed. The said "unlikely" because they knew enthusiasts would chance it anyway. Its completely selfish from AT.

Anyway I’m supposed to go tommorow!? I thought Sunday would be the perfect day. I’ve been preparing all week

I understand people's disappointments I really do but I think you're letting your eagerness to ride WM cloud your judgement. Why would the park not want to go ahead today if they could? Of course they would as everything has been geared around today. The weather may be okay right now but the mini storm is moving in and lots of places nearby do have snow. The temps are supposed to be 1 degrees all day with a wind chill factor of -4 / -5.

I know you're all disappointed guys but cut them some slack. Saying things like they don't have the staff etc is just pure lunacy. Of course they have the staff. They've had to make a very difficult decision which Thorpe have done too don't forget. Can you imagine if they'd said nothing and hoped for the best and then droves of people arrived and were absolutely gutted? It's a no win situation for them.

Whoever just edited Wikipedia must know something we don't... the opening day has gone back to the 17th on there.
