Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

Given the now amber warning ive decided not to head up and lose the money I paid for my stay in a local hotel. To me the 3 hour drive up isnt worth the risk, particularly as the snowfall gets worse in the late afternoon/evening and I have to drive back home again!

If the park does open, I think it will be AM only, try and run a few rides on wickerman but I think they will close in the afternoon. The winds alone are high enough to stop most of the rides.

That's a shame mate. Must be slightly gutting. Wouldn't be surprised if it looks like a very sensible decision in 48 hours time though.

Totally gutting mate. 23 of us were going up including friends not been up there for some years. Bloody Russia again eh!! Lol.

Anyway, splash landings is Uber cheap in the week with the sun code!

Forecast has started to improve, temperatures are higher, snow is less, but winds are still high.

@Craig is the media launch still on for tonight?

Thorpe have just announced they won't be open Sunday, wonder what the chance is Alton will follow suit since the forecast is worse up north.

Thais is one of those strange moments where Thorpe’s customer services are doing a much better job that Towers. They keep telling people that they’ll be open, so people (like me) have already started travelling.

Again, I completely understand that weather is out of their control. But they’ve got to make an announcement one way or another!

Yeah but the ironic thing is given the reliability of forecasts nowadays, I bet we don't even see a flake of snow all weekend here or at Thorpe.

Glorious sunshine here in Dudley at the moment. Very pleasant outside. Can hardly believe how bad the weather is slated to be tomorrow a bit further north. Strange weather.

And while of course the weather is something they can’t control, the longer they leave it to announce what’s happening risks annoying those customers like you who are travelling already or those that could have cancelled non resort hotels for refund / different date.

Of course everyone wants Towers to be open but I can’t help but think Thorpe have forced their hand, Thorpe is closed due to safety concerns but with a much less severe weather forecast and Towers is worse but spreading over the day now than just a few hours.

In the end safety for all comes a priority above a new ride opening.

Adverse weather has been predicted for days, it's now 2:10pm on the day before opening and the forecast is improving. Surely they won't call it off now?

The way it’s going I think they are going to continue as it’s all opening tomorrow and then see what actually happens when morning arrives.

Yes it has got better today but that Amber warning is still in place.

it’s a no win situation really

I really hope it does open as I'm visiting Monday and Tuesday (because I thought it would be much quieter) and if it doesn't open this weekend then bang goes my plan of a quieter day. Hahahaha

You can't control Mother Nature though sadly. Just have to roll with it. Bloody snow in March eh?
