Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

Not looking good I see on ride times that there is no nemesis, wicker man, river rapids and even Heave ho is down where are all these attractions they tell us to go to when 1 ride is down?

They are still in the first days of the season but things don't look good at all so far. If it was only teething problems to sort on WM you could forgive them but there's issues all over the park in fairness. So sad.

We need someone to take this park off Merlin's hands and soon. So much potential there and big money to be made but only if it's ran correctly which it's clearly not being. The coasters are even all there for any new investor.

Yesterday the app and boards around the park showed River Rapids with a queue of 0 minutes, but it was closed all day. I wonder if they are only going to open the Rapids on peak days.

.
My first thought on seeing that was "When did Wickerman move to Dark Forest?"
Identikit wooden fences across the whole park is to blame.

My first though was how does the guy in the costume walk, let alone pee.

Then I realised it's probably a static model, but not to worry, if they leave it out on Sunday it won't last past 10.10am, and then they'll be spending the next few weeks recovering bit of him tucked away in unique and clever spaces throughout the park.

mmmmm, no it's clearly a costume. No different to any other "mascot" in regard to loo breaks, I'd imagine.

It was definitely a fella in a suit. He was walking around and being filmed.

We joined the queue at 14:05 today with around 40 people ahead of us. By the time we finally got on Wickerman it was just after 15:50

I don't know what the problem is, well other than the fact at the moment it doesn't seem to like people actually riding it. But it's going to be a grim Easter weekend if they don't sort it out fast.

I was not far behind you. We queued outside the queue and were still in the plaza (that right) bit when the actors came around. Got released into the holding pen and I've got to say the queue line is impressive, you get good interaction with the coaster and some superb views. Had to wait for about 40 minutes as it seemed they couldn't get it going.

Once through the preshow the ride broke down and the people on the train that pulled into the station had to be guided through to the exit as they were parked behind a train in the station. Maintenance eventually got it going again and handed it back over to operations. Staff were great, explaining things all the time and saying they didn't know how long it would take to get going again but to let them know if we (all the guests), wanted to leave.

As for the ride, I was hoping to get at the back but being a single rider, it wasn't happening. The ride surpassed all of my expectations and seemed way faster that any video. Loved it, but I wasn't preferred to rejoin the queue as it was huge, kudos to those in the queue who waited.

Got my season pass so will be back a few times from Newcastle this year with others in tow.

Regarding the GCI servicing, there will be a warranty period where they will have to provide a competent engineer. Although the thing will have been commissioned, GCI will need to fulfil that period (in my line of work it's 2/3 years) and Alton/my line of work, cannot make any changes to the ride within that time. The ops and maintenance need to get to hand with the ride but just because it's built and running (at times), doesn't mean GCI have washed their hands with it. GCI will still be consulted during periodic maintenance periods and will probably send some engineers to maintain vital parts of the equipment. GCI will also own the software to run the ride so that'll be like a subscription service Alton will have to pay to them.
