Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

Does anyone think they will put the flames back on fully though? If they were actually doing damage to the Wicker Man structure, I'd be pretty doubtful... unless they really want to make a proper effort to sort the issue, but then again, not exactly like Merlin to go above and beyond is it..

Good to hear that everything else seems to finally be working as it should though. Hopefully they'll now work on increasing the speed of dispatches! :)

They can't really dispatch trains much quicker than they were on Sunday. It seems that they are sometimes having to wait to dispatch trains because the system won't let them, oddly.

That is not the reason for the lack of fire for much of the season. There have been two major problems that have been out of Towers hands, hopefully now these have been sorted we will not see any more issues before the end of the season.

:)

What were the problems?

Are they now dispatching them so that one engages with the lift while another is still out on the course?

I should hope so, otherwise the tied train seems pointless...

Not that fast, the 3rd train isn’t pointless, I’ve been observing how the ride works and the 3rd train is needed quite often.

Looks like a poor day for Wickerman today with long periods of downtime and people on Twitter complaining that they have waited 2 hours and have still yet to go on the ride. This on a 10:00-16:00 day as well!!

That sucks! I think I was lucky, only one period of downtime in the morning of my visit, managed two rides with a ~25 minute wait in the afternoon.

I understand it's a new attraction but a chain operated wooden coaster is the last ride I expect to see downtime on!

The thing is, we all see it as a breakdown of the equipment, when in reality it isn't always.

I was stuck at the front of the queue on the station when it stopped a couple of weeks ago. They sent round the first empty train to get the 2nd train unloaded, then sent that round to get the 3rd emptied. And the reason? A guest had been rude and spat at a ride host while he got on the train. They let him ride and meanwhile host reported it. So they stopped the ride keeping the guy on the brake run while they waited for security to arrive to escort said guest off the ride (and hopefully out of the park). So 10-15 minute down time all because of a rude guest (and I was completely on Alton's side with this particular stoppage).

I think you're right, it could be problems with guests, the pre show, the flame effects etc etc. And I'm glad they called security, nobody deserves to be spat at.

It still feels like too much downtime, but it should be ironed out before too long.

Overhear the ride batching host chatting to each other over the station. They managed 60 trains an hour and want to see if they could do more
That’s 1400 per hour. That can’t be correct can it.
They have improved the throughout tho.
All day today as get onto the brake run there is always a train half way up the lift hill
:D

A quick check as I need a wee badly ..

Not too bad at all! If they can get whatever is happening with the restraints sorted, I'm sure they could go even quicker.. maybe.

With that operations video posted yesterday, I was pretty surprised how quickly The Smiler was dispatching – seems like the closure of the baggage hold hasn't created too many issues. Nemesis, I was a bit surprised with the amount of faffing around which seemed to delay the dispatch, so I hope it isn't like that all the time. Overall, ride operations seem okay, but could still be a bit better, of course.
