I thought it might be worth starting a thread about Wiener Prater’s new upcoming coaster, a Mack Big Dipper which will be called Wiener Looping (taking its name from a Schwarzkopf that operated at the park during 1982).

This new Prater coaster seems to have maybe gone under the radar a little bit, perhaps being overshadowed of course by Europa Park constructing their own Big Dipper/Stryker coaster but this is scheduled to open first and construction appears to have begun in January.
According to RCDB it will have 2 inversions and feature a Banana Roll and Finish Loop elements.

There is an article about it here (in German) where it mentions that construction was due to begin in January 2023 and last for seven months. There’s also mention that the park will more developments over the next 15 years which is be very interesting.

And an interview here with Stefan Sittler-Kodl from Prater where he talks about this coaster.

Has anyone been to Prater before? I'm thinking of doing a trip for the first time but as I'm aware its PPR how much would you recommend as a budget to get all the main things done, also I assume everything is mostly walk on since its PPR and high throughput? So how long would you likely need there to do the main stuff? Is it easy to do and Vienna same day?

Thanks for any tips

It entirely depends on what you intend to ride. All the creds probably just under €100 these days, rerides or some of the flats or dark rides probably closer to €200.

It's incredibly frustrating that there's no wristband system, as there were a number of non creds I wanted to go on.

You can do it and some sightseeing in a day though no worries. Opens till late and it's got a great atmosphere at night.

Prater has one of the main train stations for Vienna right next to it, you can go straight from the airport to the park entrance in about 45 minutes. It’s very possible to visit Vienna in the daytime and then Prater for a few hours in the evening but really though you don’t want to rush your time seeing Vienna. Get the transport card and see not only the historic attractions in the city centre such as St Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hoffburg but also the palaces that are a short tram ride away such Schonbrunn. Prater is only 10 minutes away from Stephensplatz where the cathedral is via the U-Bahn. As for how long to spend in Prater it kind of depends on how much you want to spend. When I went I really picked and chose my rides which was a bit of a pity.

Oooh, I remember Walibi Holland showing them running Lost Gravity with backwards seats for testing a few years ago so it's nice to see the concept come to life.
