Plus I think the amount of people using similar systems in Europe is much less than the amount of people who use Merlin's system.

That and everything in a pit doesn't stand out. Toxicator stands out much better now compared to another pit. -
To be fair, the impracticalities of digging down in that area can be seen with both the Nemesis pit and the old Thunder looper / Blade...

As @AT86 says it’s probably the risk of damaging the deer park wall. So heritage rather than the fabled quicksand pit of Alton….

The land has two B&M coasters on it, and it’s on the top of a valley, I’m pretty sure there is no rumour about soft ground.

Inverted tops spins require a lot of clearance below the ride for the platform pit. It probably wasn’t a ton more money in the grand...

That park of the park had a lot of flat rides prior to Oblivion, they didn’t see Oblivion as a direct replacement of Gravitron.

Those that can afford it will. Very premium product, in an affluent area, that can target an exclusive market...two hundred quid a visit...
