2015 Official Meet Calendar

I am pleased to say that we are now ready to reveal the TowersStreet Official Meet calendar for the 2015 season! Whether you are new to TowersStreet, been around since day one - or indeed before even that - we hope to see as many of you as possible for an informal, fun day out at one of the UK's leading theme parks! Remember - it's not just Alton Towers but other parks around the country, too!

Following member feedback and discussions with the wider TS team, we have made some changes to the calendar for next season based on the rationale that TS Official Meets are one of our communities core successes and we want them to remain so in the seasons to come:
  • We want to keep our successful meets and drop meets where feedback has been mixed/poor or meets which haven’t been popular at all
  • We want to have a similar time gap between meets (with exception to Scarefest/Fireworks) so that there aren’t too short and/or long gaps between official meets. For 2015, the gap between most official meets is around 2 months. This should allow members to plan more easily for both time and money
  • We are removing the 'TST+' label since we felt this caused confusion and didn’t allow people to make informed decisions about where to stay and when to attend
  • Following a trial with our Liseberg trip in August 2014, we want to make the official meet calendar better fit the demands of our community and so operate a more fluid response to mini meets, considering on a meet-by-meet basis whether their popularity justifies them being made official. This could, for example, result in mini meets such as February half term, Blackpool Pleasure Beach or other being made official
With all of this in mind, we also recognise that many people require significant notice of the official meet dates and so are proposing 5 core meets in 2015.

2015 Official Meets:

21-22 March 2015: Alton Towers Opening Weekend

Alton Towers (Saturday and Sunday)
Accommodation: Rugeley Travelodge

30-31 May 2015: TST South
Chessington World of Adventures (Saturday) and Thorpe Park (Sunday)
Accommodation: Beaconsfield Ibis Budget

1-2 August 2015: TST Summer Double
Alton Towers (Saturday) and Drayton Manor Park (Sunday)
Accommodation: Alton Towers Resort (optional)

17-18 October 2015: TST Scarefest*
Alton Towers (Saturday and Sunday)
Accommodation: Rugeley Travelodge

8 November 2015: TST Fireworks*
Alton Towers
Accommodation: Alton Towers Resort (Sunday night, post-season social)

MINI MEET PLANS

As ever, we plan to arrange mini meets and, indeed, any of you are able to create one. Look out for BETCH Party weekend at the end of January, Alton Towers AND Blackpool Pleasure Beach trips in February and much more as the season goes on!

As mentioned above, mini meets which appear particularly popular may then be 'elevated' to an official meet - although we aren't having set criteria for this at this point in time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to discuss in this topic and...

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IN 2015!

For the official meets:

Definite:
Opening Saturday
Scarefest Saturday

Maybe:
Double Sunday

And I'll attempt to be at as many Towers mini meets as possible, including FHT. I would be interested in the 2 days down south, but funds are not good, due me visiting Germany for a week, Europa for 3 days, DisneyLand Paris for 2 days and around 3 days somewhere in Europe!

Official meets wise, I should be there for everyone except Scarefest. Looking to do both days for the Staffs double this year.

I'll probably be at the Sundays of most meets due to working on Saturdays. I'm not planning on being at South, as that's the same weekend as Eurovision. I may also not attend the Summer Double, as it's not long after Tilburg and Dusseldorf, and my funds may be limited. I'll definitely be at Fireworks, though, seeing as it's my favourite meet of the season, and I'll once again be planning to stop on resort. This is all dependant on my contracted hours at work, mind, as I know they're subject to change. :p

There is something called 'booking a day off work', Balsdon.

And it's Eurovision? Even BETTER! The South meet a few years back with Eurovision was HILARIOUS! We all watched it in the bar...

BELARUS, anyone?

;)

I know, Dan - I've just got to see where everything fits in to my holiday plans for 2015. :p

Looks like a great calendar :D My only comment is the lack of a Summer bank holiday meet - although I realise why this has been done (and like you say, theres nothing to stop mini meets taking place :) )

(FWIW, I will also only be at South on condition of Eurovision being watched ;) )

Yes, the principal reasons for the summer meet being earlier in August are:

  • A desire to have the meets more evenly spaced through the season
  • The prices of accommodation being generally higher at the end of August
  • The fact that we have knowledge of a lot of people planning large foreign trips through August and into September and wouldn't want this to impact on attendance
And Mike... I DEFINITELY PLAN to watch Eurovision with a pint in hand! We can enquire with Beaconsfield to see if they'll show it in advance and, if not, have an extended room sosche! Last year we had an England world cup game, next year the Eurovision!

:D

I think it's well known that there'll be a few groups heading out to Florida next year so an international meet isn't likely to be quite as popular as say this year. Hopefully there'll be one back on the cards in 2016!

Pretty pleased with that calendar though, only thing lacking for me is the first Saturday of FHT although I'd imagine a mini-meet for that will be quite popular. My attendance will depend largely on football though I think, will see how things are shaping up next year.

:)

Ah excellent! That means it doesn't clash with the end of the football season either so I should be able to make it.

:)

Currently only planning on doing Day 1 Opening and 2 days Fireworks next year. :)
