July on park

the Planetarium, Sunliner Trains, oh, Doom and Sons :D the Park Railway, The Beast and Toyland Tours (god how i miss that)

All of which closed before I was born.
Toyland Tours didn't close until... 2004 (could be 2003). We used to ride it on every trip after dinner in McDonalds. Then one day some scaffolding went up and we were all really sad. Still sad now.

Ok then I was 4 (or possibly 3) and didn't visit until I was 10. Toyland tours was long gone.

Perhaps the fact I never whent on it made it less sad for me, or maybe that's the saddest thing...

R.I.P Toyland Tours

15.

Despite this, I am the height of a 12 year old and have actually been height checked on oblivion a couple of weeks ago

Is that a joke? Been there a couple of times, and its safe to say I'm not in a rush to go again. Really bad theming, invested with wasps...

What else can you expect from telford.
And people complain about towers rides...

yes it was a joke. when you been on for so long mick taking happens, after you become a fixed forum member

I went once 11yr ago, when my daughter was 6. never been back.

31 years since I first stepped on park! Vaguely remember a kiddie coaster involving a caterpillar and an apple and something to do with Rupert the Bear!

@Pixie-Ro has beaten me by 1 year...

While this thread seems to have deviated a teeny tiny bit from the topic.. I'll hop in and add that it's 19 years since my first visit (at the age of 18), and I'm also quite pleased to note that I'm not alone in the 'Old Men Liking Rollercoasters' category :D :D
And I can't even create a tenuous link to the topic by saying that my first visit was in July.. cos it wasn't, I went with some Uni friends on a wet weekday in May..

Getting back to the topic.....just finished packing for our mega-theme park trip!

We are setting off tomorrow, stopping in Carlisle for a night, before 3 nights at Alton Towers - we will be around the park Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week (6th to 8th). Staying at Splash Landings.

Then we head down south for just over a week, including 3 nights at Chessington, and a trip to Legoland.

Then we finish off with 4 nights in Blackpool.

I've also just worked out it must be around 30 years since I first went to Alton Towers. I was definitely there 21 years ago when Nemesis first opened (although I've always been too much of a wuss to ride it - gonna do it this year though, as my wimpy son has suddenly got brave and insists we are doing all the scary rides this time).

But the thing I am most looking forward to is clobbering the diet, and hitting that chocolate fountain in Flambo's! :p
