Thorpe Park 2017: DBGT: Rise of The Demon

That's true diogo, ivy can grow from anywhere though. Lol.

I do feel that the theming of this ride could have been more imaginative, even if the ride will be a dark theme. I don't hate Merlin but it frustrates me that any ride that is thrill or older teen/adult has to be a dark theme.

I really hope that merlin pull out all of the stops on this ride, this is the proving ground for them to be able to compete with some of the bigger players ( budget allowance etc).

I may jest but I am really looking forward to this ride, Thorpe really needs this as their last proper dark ride burnt down years ago.

At least there's some variation on the outside, unlike other dark rides like Transformers:

mmmmmmmm, grey

I'm not even bothered about the destroyed theme, more of how said destroyed theme looks on those concepts... it doesn't even look good. It literally looks like an abandoned building down the road from where I live, not exactly something I would expect to see a replica of in a theme park. The concepts look very lazy, filthy and depressing.

I wish they put some of the effort in what they did with swarm if it is another abandoned theme. At least swarm island look good. I'm with you James it looks like what you will see by the side of tracks on the way to Staines station

Transformers more than makes up for the look on the outside with the ride tech, not sure the same can be said for this ride at the moment

The thing is Thorpe has some nice looking areas and themes, but this ride is going to look a bit odd sat next to the tin shed of X, the volcano and Australian theme of nemesis and I'm a celeb, the brightness of angry birds and then the fun but slightly run down feel of amity cove.

Should have done this a tiny bit earlier, but didn't. Better late than never though - please continue all Thorpe 2016 discussion in here :).

Some more progress on the ride (Credit; Theme Park Guide, which they in turn got from somebody on TTF)

Well it's nice to see some steel work going up, still unsure on how likely this is to open in March, a lot of work to do!

You do know thorpe park is owned by merlin right. When have they ever opened a new attraction by March.

Thirteen, The Swarm, Nemesis Sub-Terra, Saw to name a few.

Chances are this won't open in March. It is becoming more and more common for parks across the world to open their new rides in the summer.

:)

I think this ride has a chance of opening in March. A lot of the work could be done in the winter. Even Swarm didn't have that much work done in August 2011 and it still opened in March 2012. However, I'm not that knowledgeable of dark rides and it could take quite a while to get everything done, so a May opening seems more realistic.

Absolutely odds-on for opening in March. It's a relatively basic flat ride in a shed.

How long did it take sub terra take to look like a ride. Yes, that looks more like a shipping container than this will (hopefully), but they will both be similar(ish) as dark rides.

Also, is there definitely an ip yet.

Care to share more details or how you know this? I do hope you are wrong though!

I'm certainly expecting some sort of major 'tracked' dark ride, surely that's not expecting too much? This is meant to be a major dark ride investment! I'm starting to think that this may be a massive let down.

:)

Their strategy has always been to open new things in March, there is no logic reason to change this - and yes I know other parks have summer openings but that does not negate the point that it makes more sense to open at the start of the season, what you need to attract more people anyway.

With regards to it being relatively basic, then strictly it is just my guess but it's based on Melrin precedent, and that anything contained within a shed is a relatively basic compared to other huge erection efforts needed for other types of rides. What I'm saying is there is nothing to stop them hammering away at getting this built in teh next seven months. There is no evidence to suggets they are behind, or will miss a March opening date.

I thought the budget for this was £30m so if I'm wrong that would be one hell of a flat ride. I'm sure this will be a major dark ride.

So you saying "It's a relatively basic flat ride in a shed" is a total guess and likely a load of tosh! Just as I thought.

I would say that with the time they have available any sort of world class dark ride is unlikely. I know comparing to Universal is not the best but just look how much further ahead their new King Kong dark ride is compared to this.

:)
