West Midlands Safari Park: General Discussion

I was there on Friday the 31st July. The Disko is called Kong and was due to open on the 1st August. They were doing operator training with it on the Friday

Just got back using a free return. Couldn't believe it when I saw that a disko had been built in the space of 2 months. No advertising, it just appeared.

Also loving the fact that in the reptile house, the glass for the cobra a hole in it (possibly big enough for it to get through) and it was in there. Looked like someone had broken it themselves.

It does look a very impressive attraction in person.

WMSP has made great improvements within the theme park area the last couple of years, it would be good if they could expand it further and add a major coaster.

The place has so much potential to become a real destination if they have the space to expand.

I know what you mean the last coaster installed was in 1999. The park is owned by three guys and they're all pretty tight I've heard from numerous employees.

I personally think plans will be submitted for Early 2013, with construction starting late 2013, and it being a complete attraction (Waterpark & Hotel) for the 2015 season.

Sorry for double post but just gone through the whole topic and saw this about the hotel and water park ^^^^^^ boy was that wrong

Cheers mate.
No problem, just searched on youtube and found this video too, however there doesn't seam to be that much posted online about it. Theres no mention on the WMSP website, and they've only put up one post on their Facebook page about it. Seams quite odd.

Are west mids often open late? I haven't seen many Disko rides with fairground style lights added before.
Yeah they do, my Facebook feed was flooded with so many 'WMSP Summer Nights' that I had to unlike the page in the end!

More so than a lot of other parks. They do a 'Summer Nights' event with rides open until 9 during august, 'Spooky Spectacular' in October with rides open until 9 and the firework spectacular open till 10.

I've found it gets a bit boring if you stay all day at WMSP.Safari, discovery trail and rides can all be done before 3:30 if you get there at about 10:00-10:30

I wonder where they got the idea of an event called 'Summer Nights' from...?

:)

It doesn't look like it however construction is under way on 'ice age' the new attraction opening spring
