It's the Little Things...

It's part of the new attraction for next year. 'Heritage Toilets Trail 2016' - "JOIN US as we take a tour down toilet lane starting with a viewing area for different taps throughout the glory years and culminating in a pleasant walk into the gardens where you can view the now unused Swiss Cottage with nearby authentic portacabin toilets - featuring genuine stains and tree growth from the 1980s! We are sure you'll agree that it is FANTABULOUS!". ;)

I think you mean "FARTABULOUS"

Are those Portacabin toilets still accessible to the GP? I've heard about them near the Swiss cottage but I've never actually imagined in what capacity they would have been used for? Do they predate the John Broome/theme park era?

Just been having a look at the maps from the 80s and some of them from 1983 on-wards show toilet signs next to the Swiss Cottage, but of course, this could simply be showing that there were toilet facilities available inside the cottage itself. I doubt that porta-cabin jobbie pre-dates the 80s just by looking at it. I'd guess they've been there since the mid-late 80s if I had to. Not been to look for them for a while so not sure if they're 100% still there, but they're definitely not for human usage if they are :)

They were certainly still there a few years back and I can't see them being removed.

Toilets are always one of my most hated things about towers.

They are all old, outdated, cold, broken, etc.

I know they have refurbished the x sector and sky ride toilets but they have been done on the cheap. They have replaced the sinks and toilets and toilet doors, yet the floor and walls are still the same and they still feel just as cold.

Towers seem to forget about their toilets, the ones at Thorpe, Lego and chessie are all a lot nicer.

Anyway we have a toilet topic for this kind of talk!

As long as the toilets are warm, clean and working, i am not bothered if they are dated.

Isn't there some nice brand new toilet block in the entertainment section of the Cbeebies land or have these already gone down the pan ;)

Steering back to the original subject, the ride opposite those toilets - In the night garden, was looking shabby only 2 years after its retheme!

Went on it last year with my son and it looked great, it really looked like the garden from the telly with the grass being immaculate and everything. Took my 1 year old daughter on it a few weeks ago and it was filthy and not so well kept. The most annoying where the sets, characters and theming, all covered in muck. How long would it take to whip round with a sponge and bucket of car shampoo and give them a wipe? Perhaps an hour every fortnight?

Lets be honest I go in the toilets for 2 reasons. As long as I can't see what everyone else goes in their for on the floor on blocking the thing up I'm not bothered in and out, off I pop. Yes they are cold, yes they could be better maintained but on the plus side you could be going into the bogs at flamingo land, and nobody ever wants that!!!!!!!!

For me what's worse is the state of the monorail. I love the monorail and wish that they kept up to the hard work they did on it a few years ago.

The audio for both the Skyride and the monorail needs changing. I find the Skyride one quite boring ("the water in our park comes from this place. There are fish in the gardens. We have several rare trees") and the monorail is just advertising. I'd prefer the monorail to be telling you something about the rides (the storylines or facts or something like that).

It's a damn sight better than the horrendous, in-your-face upselling ones of previous years! Don't encourage them to go back!

kinda dont mind the Skyride audio, a bit of relaxing time above the trees learning a bit of something.
