American Adventure Returns

As a Derbyshire resident I'd *love* to see this happen, but I think it'd take a *lot* more than a petition to the council to get this kind of show on the road. It'd obviously be great if we did see investment into a new park though.

Thing that makes me laugh is that is the creator of the change post going to run the park and put the money into it? Probably not... Are the council going to run it? I seriously hope not... If someone wants to reopen it, contact the council and say here is some money for the land i'll buy it okay?

A petition will do literally nothing...

Also the park was great but I think rose tinted glasses are being used here...

Yeah, this won't happen. I admire the effort that the campaigner has put into this, but getting 5,000 virtual signatures won't return American Adventure.

"Hmm, we want to transform into a family park, I know, let's get rid of our Boomerang and Log Flume!"

*During American Adventure's Usual Yearly Meeting in the local pub*
Great Idea, Let's get rid of our main draws to the park! I'm sure it won't affect our visitor numbers? Right? Right!?

It’s highly unlikely a petition would make any difference, and realistically if the park was going to be saved it’d have already happened. It would be starting a theme from scratch now. Still, over 3000 signatures in a week isn’t bad. It may not have been getting enough visitors to make it viable, but it had its fans.

It had a reasonable rapids, a really good log flume and some great live entertainment. I for one miss American Adventure.

So did I and so did a lot of people,
However, Like you said... it would have been saved by now, much the same with Camelot and George Michael's career...

Forgetting one thing.

It's location & charm & sprinkling of magic it had in its heyday is what MADE the park.

This is like saying open Alton Towers on a brownfield site in Stoke.

AA has gone.

I am probably one of its biggest fans on this site, I adored the place!! The Missile still remains one of my favourite coasters (in situ!) & I have some wonderful memories of it.

But you can't rebuild it somewhere else, as sad as I am to actually say that.
