Phantasialand: General Discussion

I am heading to Phantasialand on the 25th & 26th April 2016. Do you think that Phantasialand are likely to do soft openings on quieter periods before the official launch? I know chances are slim but I am hoping Taron will be almost ready!

Really difficult to say at the moment, I'd say end of April was fairly unlikely based on what I saw a few weeks ago with lots to do landscaping wise. Then again though, the test rides (what little we've seen of them!) seem to be going well, so who knows!

I'm not so sure either, Raik's trains aren't even on the track yet and the spikes are surrounded by scaffolding for theming the inside of the lift cladding. There's still quite a lot left to do on that side of the site tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't open until June/July

Thanks @Craig & @Dar - We never planned the trip to go on them (It was planned last August) however would have been a bonus if they were. I will just have to stand outside the entrance and shout until the let me on ;-)

Far as I know Phantasialand don't seem to do soft openings. At least not recently. The people on Phantafriends believe it will be just like Chiapas - there will be a pre-opening ceremony for invited guests and then the following day it opens to the public. However as it opens during the season and not at the start like Chiapas did this could change.
Anyway though I think it will open May/June.

Yesterday a lorry from Holland (Vekoma) was on site. It is believed this was Raik's train being delivered.
And yes there's still a number of things to finish on that side of the area. While the side next to Chiapas with Taron's station sits complete - according to a number of reports on Phantafriends yesterday they were testing the area's outdoor speakers. Unfortunately no one managed to/was allowed to record the area's soundtrack. Hopefully the soundtrack to the area and rides will be as good as Chiapas' music (I really love that soundtrack).

It would appear that they're gradually bumping up the launch speed, judging from this video taken today:

Over on Phantfriends, they're saying that the yellow wheels are gone from the trains. Maybe the yellow wheels were a softer compound for the slower tests? I seem to remember seeing somewhere that that was the norm?

That looks much faster than the previous test video. I just hope it's open when we go at the end of June.

I find it a bit interesting that PL haven't released any stats relating to this ride prior to it's opening. Normally parks do release some stats/speeds etc. beforehand.

Oooft. Love how it whips round that low over-banked turn. It appears to gain speed out of nowhere.

It's hard to predict where it will pop up over the fence next, the layout is marvellously erratic.

It's looking incredibly nippy, it absolutely flys round that overbank following the second launch, incredible!

As for releasing stats, they've said its the fastest multi launch coaster in Europe, thus it must be over the 62.1mph that Helix gets. Personally, I reckon they're testing to push it as far as they can before actually saying quite how fast it is. I think we could possibly be looking at around 65mph. Can't wait to try it, the sound of the launch in that video is phenomenal! :D

This just keeps getting better, I like the nippy changes between turns. It looks like it some of these transitions could be like cheater hunts twist after the inversion but on a lager scale.

May have to try and pop my phantasia land cherry later this year.

I see everyone else is noticing that nippy overbank, when I first saw it fly through that I was pretty stunned!

It reminds me a bit of Nemesis' first Helix the way it just absolutely rockets through it.

Amazing looking ride. Intamin are hit and miss as we know but this one looks like it could well be a bit hit.

And the trains for Raik are stunning! What a fantastic new area that has peaked my interest in this park to a point of "jigging on my seat" I WANNA GO I WANNA GO!

Some more shots of Tobi's fantastic model

It looks like the far end of the rock work wall will feature buildings much like Chiapas' sound barrier. These may well like the area to the harbour style part of Klugheim that has been created around River Quest.

These two images show speculation that the rock work wall may well contain tunnels, possibly forming part of the queue for Taron?

This final recent overhead shot really does show quite how busy the area is becoming. I mean we always knew it was full... But this is crazy!

One thing that does strike me, is the empty space bottom left of the image. This really does make me think the living/dead wall may well be a temp thing until future development takes place in the coming years?

Still... This project is so good!

For a long time now they have they saying on Phantafriends that the plants wall was confirmed to be temporary.
The park owns the strip of land behind it that runs along the back of the Kaiserplaz.
Will be interesting to see what will happen there.

This photo shows the strip of land the park own in blue.

This thing looks fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun

And it sounds awesome!

Gotta love the shriek of Intamin LIMs! Cheetah Hunt and this both sound incredible. SET TO WARP!

It's carrying some serious speed, and some of the transitions look very snappy indeed. Lapsers will be nothing short of a blessing on this. The neck jabbing OTSRs really would have killed this ride.

I think this has raised the bar for non inverting launchers, like Ian said the transitions look really snappy and amazingly fun.
