Rollercoaster Restaurant: General Discussion

I don't mind the cost of the main dinner menu but the kids meals are a bit steep, especially if like me your kids are 5.

It sounds like you're paying a premium price for good?? quality food and to watch it do loops. Plus do you not sit at a table with other parties.

How will the MAP discount be handled if the place uses touch screens. Do you have to pay by card or is cash an option?

If it uses the same method as Food Loop, then each diner gets their own RFID card when they are seated. You blip this card on a reader next to the screen when you order, then present it at the till on your way out. You then pay what you owe for your food. (This method makes things soooo much simpler that trying to split a bill between a large group of people!)
So I presume any discount would be taken off when you pay at the end.

Or you get a MAP card and the machine does the discount. Unlikely though.

Probably more cost-effective to have one set of RFID cards and take off any discounts when paying at the end.

More than likely however separate MAP cards would save time which is important due to how busy it will be.

Or this could be the first step towards an integrated MAP that comes with RFID built-in that you can use to get in to attractions, in restaurants like this, and to get discounts in the shops?

Definitely would be a positive step for Merlin and a step into the modern age.

Rollercoaster Restaurant is now open!

I've moved this thread to General Discussion now that it is.

:)

Just back from a few days on park and I've got to say I'm surprised at how great this restaurant is! I could have sat there for hours watching food come out and the staff were fantastic.
The only let down for me was the fact that the lunch menu seems to be lacking.. There really isn't a lot of choice.

When I was on park Monday, I got to have a sneak preview of the restaurant from an open door, it does look amazing!

I also love the images from the past rollercoasters printed all over the front of the restaurant with the time line dates. This brought back memories from the past :)

I've heard nothing but positive comments about this tonight, with people saying it blows FoodLoop at EP completely out of the water! This is fantastic news, however the ludicrous prices really put me off.

I have to be honest that on my first trip to Europa the only food during my 5 day visit that was poor was the food from Food Loop. Don't get me wrong the food at Europa was outstanding everywhere (better than any other park I have visited) except the Food Loop for some reason. I had the Spaghetti Bolgnese and it tasted like it did at school, it was bland, mushy and awful. I had high hopes for the food but the experience was still great. I may have just had bad experience with the food, but the concept and deliverance was fun. :)
