Scarefest 2016

Is there any difference in the mazes during the day? I'm planning to get a 1pm ticket just so I don't miss night rides but I don't want to miss out on anything.

Nope, they are exactly the same at 1pm as they are at 8pm!

:)

Only difference is the atmosphere when queuing to go in them! Especially in her ladyships gardens with the red lighting on the buildings and the flickering bulbs .... apart from that , as others have said, no difference once inside!

For anyone interested, or un aware
Towers are doing Extreme Mazes again this year, although they are not advertised anywhere.

Went through an Extreme Sub Species last night, just a group of three.

As the mazes had 2 stoppages during the day they were running late and we didnt get in till 10pm,

Well worth the hour long wait tho, I really feel for those poor actors having to work so late and been scaring folks all day, but even so they gave us hell!

being pinned in a corner by two aliens.... heaven ! :p

Went scarefest yesterday with the ball and chain so we could enjoy the mazes without kidlets , TOT surely can't last much longer, Altonville mine was very good and Sub species was the best out of the 3, the whole experience went a little sour having waited through 2 power cuts whilst in the queue for SS and AVM, it took us nearly 4 and a half hours to do the 3 mazes with a 4 pm time slot, also the physical contact in SS is a bit too much imho!

Hi, I'm going to be attending scarefest for the first time this tuesday coming. We'll be (me & girlfriend) there from opening and be leaving around 7-8. I was just wondering what the best order of doing things is, whether or not the park has wi-fi, how much spending money to bring, which ride is the best to buy a picture from and whether or not the legend is true about going to games early increases chances of winning because if prizes are given out early and people are seen walking with, it encourages people to play the games later. Also what this thing about swapping pins/badges with staff is about and how many people tend to wear a costume?

Cheers!

As in Tuesday 18th? Scarefest isn't on that day. It is the Tuesday after though!

As for money 2 meals per person £15-20 each? But the all day drinks refill is good value at £6! Also for ride photos choose them one you like the best! I like the rapids as I don't always look like a fool! ;)

With the games I found if u go early and offer them some money they might just give u a prize I have managed to win 2 out of 3 of the smiler balls for the wife and I'm rubbish at them games

I found the Altonville Mine Tour maze was not so good last weekend. However, this weekend... boy, the actors really went for it towards me. Got manhandled a few times from behind which was enough to make me feel scared! It was so worth it though.

Sub Species was just as good as last year, and I managed to get lost which led me to a room with 3 actors pouncing on me all at once. Bloody hell, that was an experience. Then to have a very interesting finale for Sub Species too.

TotT was poor for me this year. It either needs to be refreshed or to be gone, compared to the other two, I barely got scared and normally the finale gives me a few jumps in this maze. Sadly not this year.

Other than that, I really enjoyed Scarefest. House of Monsters was great fun and I am loving the lighting around park this year. Nemesis in red, Oblivion in Orange, fabulous stuff!

Tried to answer as many of your questions as possible, hope it helps.
  1. Tuesday the 18th isn't scarefest, but Tuesday the 25th is. I'm not sure which day you're going on, but just be aware of that.
  2. In terms of rides, the best ones to go for first is either the smiler, galactica, or rita/th13teen as these get longer queues, but (if it's scarefest) the rides will all be walk on by about 7pm.
  3. I personally think that nemesis, congo and oblivion have the best ORP's, but it all depends on how good the photo itself is.
  4. The park does have wifi, but it's very slow on some phones.
  5. Food money depends on where you want to eat. Take more if you want to eat at Woodcutters or rollercoaster restaurant than if you want to eat at fried chicken or burger kitchen (I'd check the website for prices)
  6. I've heard rumors that if you simply ask the staff at the game stand early in the day, they give you a prize without paying.
  7. Staff don't swap pin badges, but they do swap pop badges. You can buy pin badges in the shops, including nemesis, galactica, smiler, rollercoaster restaurant, and th13teen badges.
  8. If it is scarefest, some people do dress up. Be aware though, that towers are refusing entry to people dressed as clowns, and are not allowed to wear masks incase it frightens kids. I went last week wearing face paint, and I got targeted in the scare zones with actors saying I was infected. Its up to you.

Hi all :)
My first post on here, have been lurking for a while haha :D

Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions for the best days to visit for quieter times for scarefest. Got from friday this week through to the following saturday (booked the whole week off haha) but want to try avoiding the busiest days with having my kids and wife with me.

Has anyone had any good days which are better to visit than others on this stretch coming up?

Thanks in advance :):):)

I'd imagine all of next week will be busy with it being half term. The quietest days will probably be this Friday and Monday 31st as these are the only two days during term time but its likely it will still busy.

I'm back from another day of scarefest yesterday and I redid the mazes. Yes the TOTT was the weakest maze, even though in previous years it's been my favourite.

Loving the Sub-species this year. The lady behind me had her feller grab and taken off, so she decided to cling on to me all the way around the rest of the maze and she wouldn't let go of me.

As for the Altonville mine, it was 1000 times better for me this week than last week.

It actually had scare actors in it, yes when I did it last week, the mine was completely deserted, I did one of the first runs last week, and obviously the actors wasn't prepared for my arrival. So much better this time around and I actually loved it.

You are instructed before you go into the Altonville mine, that you must not go through any curtains

The sections inside the maze are divided by curtains like plastic strips, just like the entrance to the station of the Smiler and Galactica which you will need to go through

Apparently, lots of schools are taking the 31st as a training day to avoid teaching on Hallow'een.
I think that it may be busy.

Generally speaking Halloween weekend is very busy in the park anyway. I recall a few years back waiting 3 hours to get on Nemesis! Even queued up behind the lift hill. Although - granted.... I doubt we will see queues like that again for some time!
