I can't really see this being a horror themed coaster if it's aimed at family's as is most likely
It would make the most sense to incorporate it into mutiny bay but we know merlin don't like the common sense approach like most big companies

I think I say this every time they update the website, but they could at least do a simple grammar check before making it go live :p

As for the new teasers, it looks very fire-like, which I think were some of the rumours for special effects from earlier in the season. It's certainly not going to have a family theme if today's teasers are anything to go by!

Of course there is always the possibility of Mutiny Bay getting some sort of re-theme. I do not think it will happen, I'm 99% sure it won't, but thought I'd put it out there!

:)

It would just add something significant to Gloomy Wood. People love Duel and the spooky woods section (I forgot its official title) that it just makes sense to add something big and new there, and hopefully in a year or so a big new refurbishment of Duel to spruce the entire area up.

They look like made up runes. Could be a Norse theme? A Viking woodie, how novel!

The fact that the second symbol in that image is used twice certainly pushes towards the idea of symbolising they other SW coasters, in order of that image:

?? No idea
Pipeline 1 SW1
Oblivion's vertical drop? SW4
Crossed swords... Nemesis? SW3
Or is this the Nemesis eye (Or The Smiler's washing machine element trolling)???
Inverted Galactica Logo? SW5
Pipeline 2 SW2
Woodie Track SW8

Leaving the The Smiler and Th13teen but I'll be honest I don't see a connection with these.

No offense but I haven't seen a stretch like that since Rita's "caveman speedway" theme.

If it's fun I'll be happy. I can see it becoming another grimdark "psy-coaster" though, Merlin will want to draw in the teenage /adult market for their big investment and that's what's hip with the kidz. Oh yeah, and no Wodan clones please...

The only way I could see this being a part of Gloomy Woods is if they build a new path under SW8 connecting Gloomy Wood to Mutiny Bay. Otherwise it makes no sense as SW8 faces Mutiny Bay and therefore that's where people expect the entrance to be.

Would such a path be possible? I believe there's already a new path going around the ride but I haven't been since 2014 so my knowledge is somewhat out of date.

I'm not ruling out the idea of SW8 being in gloomy wood, but if it is then Katanga Canyon would just be sat their very awkwardly between two dark themed areas, espacially as the theme of that area is more upbeat. I suppose this would depend on which pathways are used next year though. :)

I also heard the rumour about it being part of Gloomy Wood, and that picture seemed to confirm it - but - if the entrance is going to be where the Flume entrance was, then that just does not make sense. The theme of the coaster may also have some influence on what they do with Duel perhaps

If we move the letters around we could onto something (probably not).I googled Hiaydwin and nothing came up.

Haunted Hollow already runs that kind of route and could be made more direct, the Flume site was ideal for a gloomy wood coaster really, with an entrance by Haunted Hollow and then running down into the trees to the station. If the area by the Flume's old entrance was remodelled to direct attention away from the ride, and had the coaster's station been closer to the wooded area to be reached nearer Gloomy Wood.

Gloomy Wood is probably closer to the SW8 site than people realise, because the design of that whole area of the park was created to circulate a very long way round the flume area, Katanga Canyon, round to Haunted House and then reach Nemesis. So it feels as though you've explored a wide area when actually they may not be as far apart as you think.

As cool as it would be to come to into gloomy woods, walk through big iron gates on the edge of the trees and queue down into the woods until you reach the coaster itself, I can't see this happening. Merlin like the cheapest option when it comes to design, and it'd be easiest to just put the entrance where the Flume's was to save remodelling that whole area.

Nobody knows where it came from. Nobody knows what it wants. There are theories, and then there is the Other Legend.

Hiaydwin comes from yet another dimension. Another dimension even further beyond our imagination. Its tragedy is that it has no home - it has suffered rejection throughout the theme park fandom. It could not thrill thrillseekers, or make itself understood by families. No target market anywhere, in any galaxy would come to terms with its awesome power; its brooding unpredictability. Its Fastrack prices.

When you ride Hiaydwin, try to remember its history. It is also awesome. There is no comparison except with every other coaster ever. This is the Other Legend. But don't try to understand it either - don't try to come to terms with it. Don't even try to think about it. Actually scratch that last one, please visit our park and remember that you can save 20% by prebooking Fastrack tickets before you visit!!

Hiaydwin, at Alton Towers. Sit back: It's fright time again. *Sighs*
