Feel I've lost interest in the Wickerman too, infact also Alton Towers. The whole Merlin attitude this year has really put me off too. After seeing that aerial video it does look quite disappointing.

We have to remember this is a test from a long way up- I am sure it will feel faster and ride better than I looks. I concur it looks slow but I would imagine speed wise it will be similar to Thirteen and RMT

Edit- to save a double post - what if the testing we saw was crash testing? I.e they were trying to find a stall point in a worst case scenario situation? After all this would be covered in testing and might explain why it was crawling round?

I think I couldn't answer that better than what Onair did :D

Though I have a similar sentiment to you in general the language of onair suggests he has lost interest in Alton Towers due to various reasons and wickerman due to the video of it running.

You have specifically linked the late openings to your appreciation of physical and emotional response to a roller coaster....

This is not logical

I had never really been interested in Wicker Man to begin with. Dont get me wrong, I’ll get in line with the rest of the sheep exactly as M£rlin want, however I cant help but feel this is Thirteen.2

Take your Alton Towers goggles off for a second and imagine you are visiting a brand new park with 3 B&M’s, 2 Intamins and a Gerstlauer infinity. When you’re taking a look at what to ride would this really be a priority?

Personally, I would be straight to Nemmie or Smiler, but I think there are lots of people too intimidated by the thrill coasters, who have younger members of the family or scaredycat partners who will make a beeline for this.

I think I will enjoy it too for what's it's worth.

Whilst typical of Merlin Entertainments it's been advertised as a thrill we have known all along its not aimed for us

forgive my ignorance and for going off topic slightly, but what were peoples issues with Thirteen?

It was advertised as a major psychological thrill ride, it was really hyped up to be something aimed more towards the thrill seeking adult market - when it opened however, although the ride is ok, people were let down realising it was more a kiddie ride.

I think this is unfair as this new ride is going in to compliment the 3 B&M's....etc surely? If they didn't have a lot of those already then maybe Wickerman may have not happened and we got something more thrilling?

The problem with new coasters is that people always want them to be more thrilling than the last and it doesn't work that way in any other park either. I think a solid family wooden coaster that is definitely going to be fairly thrilling at the very least was a sensible decision.

I don't want every ride they invest in to be 1.4m or above (even though im a thrill seeker myself) as then the park would become chavy like that Merlin monstrosity down south.

I want a good experience from a coaster. And ride each coaster for a different type of fun. Each coaster at alton gives a different ride.
For an intense ride it's nemesis.
For a cheesy laugh it's duel.
For a bit of fun thirteen.
For i left my stomach at the loading point it's rita.
And for i feel sick and dizzy it's smiler

I think as far as experience coasters go, this one whilst not that thrilling, looks to fit the bill. Good theming, back story, pre show, fire effects, aesthetically very nice on the eye. What's not to like?

I think as long as they keep going family thrill family thrill I am hally with that. Must be tough to market a family coaster to its target audience who are prone to exaggerate and won't like going on a "kiddie coaster"
