Needless to say it looks stunning. Impressed is an understatement!

:)

The fact that the took the pictures at sunset really adds to the atmosphere, fully dark and the wicker man structure wouldn't show up right, the glow of sunset really helps.

Hopefully they have got the pre-show right and it will run well like Hex rather than Zufari at Chessington where it was killed off after the first season.

Any effects that utilise fire and light are going to look better when it is darker, that's just normal. Clearly the best time to ride and view Wicker Man will be at Scarefest and Fireworks.

Nonetheless, the theming object itself looks undeniably brilliant.

:)

Thirteen V2.0 in the case of "it's actually designed well if you ride it at night"...

Looks good, but could easily be a case of all skirt and no knickers... I'm always wary of initial responses to anything new since pretty much everything gets the response of "IT'S THE BEST THING EVAR!!!!11" constantly...

Yes those pictures look great, as for the fire effects, I have always have concerns that the full effect will be lost during the summer days where the sun is shining at it brightest.

Alton if your are reading this, we do need longer opening hours than that currently on offer, perhaps some late night summer openings too

Late summer opening won't add much night riding time with sunset at around 9pm, they would have to stay open to at least 9:30 to gain much time for rides in the dark. I do agree that late summer opening should be a bigger thing than it is, but I don't see the park getting people to stay into the evening without a significant amount of extra entertainment (like ScareFest or Fireworks) and this is much harder to offer in the summer. Maybe if the late night weekends at Thorpe Park work we could see longer hours at Alton Towers, but I don't think it will gain any more night ride time.

Those photos look amazing!

Hopefully they've really utilised the tunnels where it
may actually be dark enough to have good looking effects on-ride.

I'd be reasonable happy for the wickerman to glow and smoke in the day, so long as the tunnels are lit with dramatic and real looking fire.

It's a shame they aren't opening late on the first few days of the season. Where it will still get dark early-ish and should be busy enough for it to be worthwhile. Opening weekend is before the clocks change, meaning the sun should be setting by 7 still.

8pm close opening weekend would show the effects off in their prime, while they are brand new.

2x 12 seater trains?

That’s got to be a mistake surely, at an event we were told it has 3x 24 seater trains.

I really hope it is a mistake anyway!

Here's what'll happen: None of this will ever be visible in daylight, and within a month it'll all be turned off to save money, or broken.

May not be as good in daylight but to say it won't be visible is a bit unfair. Especially as it is designed for outside. Would suck to be a firefighter if the only shouts they get to and can see the fire is at night. Not sure they will turn them off as it was a big selling point of the ride. They may or may not brake but how about waiting and seeing?

I hate to break it to you, folks, however the thick smog you see being pumped out of a smoke machine is purely temporary whilst the ride is shooting its TV advert.

Furthermore, I am certain 2 of the bright LEDs you see, which illuminate the Wicker Man so spectacularly, are temporary, and will not form part of the ride. This is the same business that went on during The Smiler's TV advert and the spectacular lighting package it had for its pictures.

Needless to say, the main structure is still very impressive.

:)
