To be fair in the Midlands it was supposed to be really rainy today and it was very pleasant

I can vouch for that. Was a bit drizzly early morning but then turned out nice and bright in the afternoon. I'll be checking the forecast for Saturday on Thurs/Fri for a better idea.

Forecasters couldn't forecast a drunk in a pub standing in front of them let alone the weather accurately a week in advance, the accuracy has gone downhill as the technology has advanced.
Quite right! Back in the old days, they'd go to the top of a mountain, commune with the gods, sacrifice a goat, then take a wild guess.... and it was still far more accurate than what "computers" predict these days.

Is the opening for Wicker Man now in jeopardy due to the forecast snow this weekend? I'm guessing probably not unless it's like the Beast from the East snow again, as I think there was snow on the ground when the park opened in 2013 judging by photos and videos taken then.

Just warning you all now, if this happens I may not be able to contain my laughter. ;)

I've just read some articles and it says that it will only really be the Eastern side of the country that will receive heavy snow, and I think Alton is more Western.

I just had a look at the Met Office forecast for the 17th, and thank god for Alton's opening hours, as it doesn't dip under 0 degrees until 6pm! An hour after the park closes!

Out of interest, what sort of temperatures will this close in?

Ah, but remember, Towers has it's own micro climate. It can be snowing over the park but bikini weather just outside the gates.

Very true, as a kid we used to stay with family who lived just outside of Leek and when we got back after a day at the park my aunt was asking how we coped with all of the rain as it had poured it down all day in Leek. We had glourious sunshine just 8 miles away at Towers.

If this does get delayed due to the weather, then I can imagine Varney's conversation with the project manager at Towers:
Project Manager: Um, we can't open Wicker Man today, Mr Varney. There's 3 inches of snow in Alton.
Varney: You tried to open a ride on time and you failed. In future, the key is not to try.

Although the actually temp will be 0, check out the 'feels like temp'. Because of gusts of wind of up to 40mph, they are saying it will 'feel like' -7 at 12 midday on the met office website!!

I'm wearing big coat and thermal underpants!!!!

And neither Oblivion or The Smiler will be open because of the wind...

Genuine question: Is it hot inside Bob? It seems a shame to have the whole idea be FIRE!!1! and then leave the inside cold
