Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

I would imagine that the park will be doing everything they can in preparation for Saturday given that they announced the opening date. I still fully expect for the ride to operate, perhaps not at the start of the day though depending on how bad the weather actually is.

Does anyone know the minimum temperatures and maximum wind speeds the rides can operate in. Actual temp on Saturday dips down to -2 with 40mph gusts midday.

Is there such a thing as heated rails? I'm just wondering (if it's not already a thing) if they could run heated wires much like the ones we have in car windscreens under the metal track to help with getting it running on cold days?

B&Ms = -5

The Smiler, Wicker Man, TH13TEEN and Rita are 0.

Really?

Silver star is the worst cold weather performer at EP and that’s their only B&M.

Though a lot of times it’s how you set up the various elements to a ride and you can tune to any weather (oil used, wheel compounds etc).

Yes.

Silver Star is significantly taller which means the top of the lift hill is much colder than ground level.

The B&Ms at Towers, for obvious reasons, do not suffer from this problem.

The restrictions come from B&M - not AT, in the handbook.

:)

The TLC twitter page just shared an update indicating that the park will still be open for the weekend which is somewhat reassuring. I really do hope that they get the main rides open as the park will most likely be quite empty aside from the other determined enthusiasts.

I think they will make a decision tomorrow. They closed on services day due to the snow and cold temperatures, wouldn't surprise me if they do the same and move opening day to Monday.

It would surprise me quite a bit given the promotion for the opening day being for Saturday
