I'm the same; I prefer the smootheness of Wicker Man to the painful roughness of the Dipper.

I've never ridden Dipper, but will be in summer. Is it rougher than Megafobia, if you've ridden both? I'm going to presume yes, but I might be surprised for all I know.

Nope, never ridden Megafobia. The Dipper' is still the only coaster to actually make my head physically hurt. Will probably never ride it again.

It's an 80+ year old woodie, it's not meant to be smooth! The bumpiness and ejector airtime are what makes it so great!
Nothing better than being flung into the restraint going over a hill before coming crashing back down in a torrent of bumps. Best ride in the UK, not at all "backbreaking".
People have different pain thresholds I suppose

Well, I was not expecting Wicker Man to be as smooth as it was. That is part of what makes it so re-ridable.

Wickerman is by far the best woodie in the UK now in my humble opinion. I've ridden nearly every one and all that are worth riding and it's not even a contest tbh. It's a stunning attraction.
Blackpool woodies have a special place in my heart because it's my most local park but in truth Wickerman is much better as you'd expect given the money it cost and advancement in technology.
Megafobia is my number 2 but still a good way behind WM. Would have liked to have ridden it when it was much newer really as I only had my first and only visit there 2 years ago and it was pretty jolty.

Only noticed this yesterday when riding it, what is that clicking/lifthill noise when the train is going into "the boring corner" just wondered and what use it has

You better get down to Alton Towers, you better make sure that you are in the Wicker Man Queue line first thing in the morning and you better make sure that you get a ride or two on it, and you better give us an honest review of the ride

Anyone that complains that they are too rough, you just need to man up. Nothing better than a ride that throws you around, makes your backside leaves the seat and leaves you with bruises. Steel coasters are way too smooth.
Ride wise, I put the Wicker Man on the same par as Blue Flyer at BPPB

Wicker man is one of Alton Towers best rides, but they need to get on top of the operational issues.
It was running on 1 or 2 cars yesterday and is still regularly breaking down. The row of seats next to the back row don't look likely to be back in action any time soon, and no sign of the fire blasts either.
The return to the station (on the flat) could do with some dialogue or effects. Some audio along the lines of "The Wicker Man has been generous, and spared your body" would give the ride an ending.

I think the ending is supposed to give the opposite meaning. Details spoilered for those who haven't ridden.
the blasts of 'fire' created with lights and a hazer were supposed to give the opposite message I think. You've been consumed by the fire, shame they aren't more convincing (light not right colour? Not sure)
