So - I’ve been thinking AT tend to build a new one every four years. But how does this work? When does planning start? How do they decide what ride to choose? When do they place orders on suppliers / sign contracts etc?

4 years is a long time really - but I guess on major building projects like these it’s not.

Any ideas / people in the know wanna share some info ?

I'd imagine the planning starts immediately after the ride of the previous design is open. Supplies etc side would be the project managers job, the timescale being set by a major meeting beforehand which would confirm who is getting the contract etc.

I'm not too sure about Space Jam?

Instead of VR goggles you could have a pair of jam jars that go over your eyes. Also strawberry jam lakes and waterfalls and have a coat of blackcurrent jam on the walls of the tunnel. To finish it off they would have a very large animatronic Michael Jordan to wave you off as you descend the first drop.

YES!!!!!

It's so frustrating when Alton Towers comes up with half arsed rides like Rita and Sub-Terra when the world's greatest concepts are right here

Until Towers come out and say Space Jam land isn't happening it's a perfectly acceptable rumour. Sorry my speculation doesn't satisfy you specifically.

My mate, who knows stuff, told me the centre piece of Space Jam Land is going to a toboggan style coaster that drops into a UFO bowl, spinning the car into a drop into a big jar of space jam.

It will be a bit like getting stuck on the brake run of Air, but a lot more trippy.

Well the Wickerman took 3 years from the planning stages to the final product.

1994) Nemesis
1998) Oblivion
2002) Air
2010 ) Thirteen
2013) Smiler
2018) Wickerman

We got that gap in between but they added
1992) Runaway Mine train
2004) Spinball
2005) Rita
2015) Octonauts rollercoaster

So really on average we had a new SW coaster every 4 years.
