2018: Park Operations & Ride Availability

It seems this 'exclusive ride time' for VIP pass holders has had the desired effect with the Trip Advisor reviews...

I'm not sure TA take kindly to things like this.

Option 1: actually fix the fundamental issues the park is facing in order to improve the TA reviews that have been very poor of late because thousands of guests have been having bad days out.

Option 2: encourage a small group of biased guests who have had a special event laid on for them to post 5 star reviews to improve the stats and leave the park operations as they are for everyone else.

Staggered openings may have gone, but if Ride Times is correct then the following have not opened at 10am:
  • Galactica
  • Oblivion
  • Thirteen
  • The Smiler
  • Wicker Man
Bravo!

:)

That is the most condescending thing I have ever read on a message board. If you are thinking of posting something like that again please message me first to help you understand how condescending it sounds.

I was trying to offer help and understanding to another forum member that was getting some backlash for something that was posted. Even I too can get thing wrong like the rest of us. We are all human after all. I'm here to help, not to undermine or condescend others

I hope the woodland fire in Dimmingsdale Valley. Does not affect park operations tomorrow.

I was on park yesterday and the smoke could be seen from the park. first I thought it was smoke, but I then I thought no, they were just clouds. The smoke could be clearly seen from the top of Oblivion and it was clearly a fire

With regards to operations Yesterday. The removal of the staggered opening times really made a possitive difference to the day. However Wickerman didn't open until 9.50 which wasted ERT. Rita was closed when in the morning. The rapid queue was insane and ran right to the entrance  Not worth the queue, especially when they are sending boats half empty and even fully empty ones around. Each time I ask a member of staff why, they fail to give a straight answer and were very abrupt about it as if I'm like the 100th person to have asked that day. I've been told that they are running the rapids at lower water level dues to the DMP incidents.

Generally it was a busy day yesterday, I was surprised that the ride opening times wasn't extended due to how busy it was.

Ridetimes also saying Rita unavailable. I’d like to think it’s a problem with the system rather than actual downtime.

This annoys me so much. Ok so there was a tragic accident in DMP - BUT..... the person disobeyed the rules, thats why the accident happened. The rapids in Alton have never had an accident. What used to be an enjoyable fun ride is now less exciting that walking down the toilet tissue isle in your local Lidl all because one person couldnt obey the rules in another theme park.

Galactica, Thirteen and Oblivion are all still down. Things seem to be as bad as they have been all season at this moment in time.

:)

Towers will claim that they've improved the fire effects on wickerman and switched them back on.
I was thinking the opposite. It would be used to keep the affects off. As they are in a high fire risk area.

Looks like rides have been down all morning

I've been told that they are running the rapids at lower water level dues to the DMP incidents..

But the ride is rougher with a lower water level so that doesn't make sense. Unless you mean on 2 pumps rather than 3 but then they are much more likely to get a boat jam.... so still doesn't work from a safety point of view.

In fairness from a health and safety perspective it's mad that these rapids and even log flumes can run with nothing to stop people standing up and moving around. I once witnessed a bloke jump out of a CRR boat, run along the side and jump back in.

Obviously they've operated for years all over the world with no major incidents until very recently, but people seem to be getting more and more stupid.

It surely can't be that difficult to add seat belts like Popeye's at IOA. Then they can ramp up the water levels again.

Just adding seatbelts isn't that simple though, as then you have to consider all the H&S that comes with doing that (further checks, further maintenance, further potential risk should a raft flip over)...

Plus people would no doubt just open them mid-ride anyway...

True it could even require brand new boats which no doubt comes at a huge cost.

Pretty sures the Popeye seatbelts can't be opened until you're back at the station.
