Tree Top Adventure

I booked Alton towers stay way back in January for my son's birthday on august 28th were staying in the enchanted village and we have been going every year for last 3 years he's always wanted to do the treetop adventure so this was finally the chance to do it (reached the Min height)

At time of booking the treetop tickets were on sale on the website but now there is no mention of it what do ever what's happened I can't find anything on Google about it closing down either ?

That's gutting that was one of the reasons he chose to go for his birthday

When did they announce it would be closed ?

Anyone have any ideas why are they improving it or giving up on it ? Only been open 3 seasons

I feel like I have already said this twice before but, The fact that I just remembered that Tree Top Quest exists!

(edit...sorry)
I just noticed how old this topic is, sorry for bumping it to the top again.

Its closed as they cannot afford to run it. On the positive side however they will be building hundreds of new enchanted sheds for 2019. Maybe you can climb all over those (and the queue for the toilets) instead.
Did they charge an admission for it? If so I wonder why they built it in the first place if they couldn't charge enough for it to be profitable

Yes it was an extra paid for experience. The whole idea was to make the resort a multi day visit so they could get as much money out of you as possible. Who knows how things would of panned out if the incident never happened but I suspect it would of become a weekend only attraction.

I think with annual pass discount it was about £16 for the high ropes course (£20 if not MAP). It was very good and a great fun. Given they host corporate events in Towers this is a great team building exercise so i'm really baffled why they closed it completely!

Maybe it needed some components replaced and it wasn't worth it? I agree they wouldn't have run it at a loss before so why would they close it?

Can I interject a bit of honesty into this...

- can towers not afford to run it? BALLS! Merlin might not give them the operational budget but this costs minimal, it was cut because of the minimal outlay and because of the lack of profit it made.

- some damaged components? Only if they couldn't be bothered to maintain it... so maybe.

- not open for 2018? - that aint opening again, once you let something that needs constant maintenance go sour it costs a lot to repair. Guess what they cba with, as ever.

It looks dire that on the approach to the two (well one, if the other is shut) main hotels this is hanging next to the drive abandoned. Google it? No webpage even to explain its closed.
It was a short sighted, minimal effort attraction by towers, at some point they realised it needs money to run and shuttered it. By 2020 if the budget stretches it will be pulled down or maybe, just maybe, if towers are lucky - it will rott away.

I find the whole affair just sad...all they had to do was charge a reasonable price, AND MAKE THE DAMN THING POSSIBLE TO FIND!

Literally, I have only ever seen it once in my entire life and I often go for a walk round the resort a bit during day trips.
