As it is listed, if there was a "mysterious fire", the ride would have to be rebuilt...using traditional methods.
There are big penalties for arson, even where you own the land and structures on it...and further big financial penalties for deliberate damage to a listed structure.
Rough as it is, it ain't going nowhere soon.
Dippy is the seat expert here, you can get a reasonably decent ride if you sit in the front half on a non wheel seat.
You shouldn't have to admittedly, but it does make a big difference.

As our town has found out, twice, you have to prove the fire was deliberately set off by the owner of the property first before issuing "big penalties", otherwise it's just as likely a case of some inbred redneck had one too many beers on a Saturday night. Two big listed landmarks burnt down round here and sod all was done about it, same thing will happen with out local old pub (Grade 1 listed), it has been bought, boarded up and left to rot, just like the other two, and will likely burn down soon, it's the same developer and he's a really really unlucky one after all.

You don't have to prove that the fire was deliberately started, but you do need to evidence the actions you have taken to stop this sort of thing happening.
It isn't easy at all to get six inch thick lengths of timber to set alight...You have to try quite hard!
Still, that nice pile of rodent timber stacked by the Bond St wall underneath the National would burn very well in my stove.
Lots of it too.

I quite like the Avalanche jumper but won't be heading to Blackpool again this year. Shame as I probably would have bought it for our works Xmas jumper day.

Ah that's SpongeBob! As well as absorbing water he's also a bit of a fun sponge :(

P.s. it took me way too long to realise what picture you meant, I went back 5 pages before realising. Urggh Mondays :tearsofjoy:

The FunHouse definitely wasn't burned down for the insurance money, so there's absolutely no precedent for this at all at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Well, after giving the Beach an awful lot of grief recently over getting in through the East (Arena) gate...on Watson Rd, I must give them credit for their eventual response.
Basically, they agreed it was a bit naughty to refuse entrance to season pass holders when the entrance till is closed, as we can just go to the Arena till.
If their printer or scanner are duff, you can go to customer services for your wristband...as long as you are a season pass holder.
If security don't let you past the entrance due to an event in the Arena, you politely insist, and if that fails, you ask them to contact the security manager...who will instruct them to let all season pass holders through to guest services for wristbands. The security manager will then come out and whip the skin off the gate security officer, then dip their flailed body in a large vat of salt and vinegar, kept specifically for this purpose in the old Magnolia Cafe.
I might have lied about the last bit.
Exactly what I politely asked them to do.
Credit to them for (eventually) sorting it out.
Might go back to my end of season tin of quality street after all.

Yeah that sounds like what should happen.

What will happen next time you get Mr "entrance is closed" security officer and insist he calls the security manager, may well be another thing...

All security staff must call their manager if requested by a customer.
Disciplinary action for those that refuse I understand.
The guy I had problems with (twice) I have absolutely no problem with, he was polite, friendly, and just doing what he had been instructed by his manager...you dont shoot the messenger...I think it was a matter of departmental managers not always communicating clearly, also why it took a fair while to squeeze the right response from them, the Arena is seperate from the park, admissions is seperate from security, and East gate entry has always been a bit weird, the till shuts off peak, but the gate remains open for the ice skaters and shows...and when the Arena has a show the till gets busy for that.
My dodgy knees appreciate the effort that has gone into getting a fair response in the end...a fair complaint getting a reasoned response without resort to cut and paste, and no shouting.
Though I do think threatening a snail mail letter to the lovely Nick may have helped...he knows I'm a weirdo since I stalked him around the park about the Icon rumours...absolutely charming bloke, always says hello.

Visited yesterday and had a really good day, used the arena entrance at about 10am so got in pretty quickly.
The park was pretty busy as well so it was nice to be there for what turned out to be a very nice day weather wise. Probably my last visit until the final weekend of the season as well where I imagine it'll be bitterly cold.

Good that bowladrome
In anticipation of the next coaster it looks like Bowl a drome is removing itself :p

Do you think they will end up knocking the whole thing down this winter ?

We now just need Nash to start removing itself too ;)

Big One closed yet again for "high winds." Barely a breeze to be felt. Poor from BPB.
