Looking at the promotional material small print, it seems that we now know that the season next year will start on Saturday, March 23rd 2019. The same material also seems to confirm that a combined ticket for access to both the park and dungeons attraction (set to be new for 2019) is going to be sold, presumably alongside similar to existing ticket options.

Elsewhere, adverts on the park’s queue time boards are showing the 2019 season pass to keep the same pricing scheme as 2018 pass at £55.

I know this could have been posted in either future or general, but with the 2018 season coming to an end today, I thought that it would fit best in General.

Looking at the hotel bookings and the ticket combos it appears the park will be closed on off peak Weds in May again, plus Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in September and October.

Whilst the 2019 season pass is currently £55 I would expect that to increase by March - the gate price is very likely to increase so they won't want to be in a position where a season pass is cheaper than a day ticket - so even if it only goes up by a couple of quid, it will probably rise slightly.

Good spot - out of interest what makes you think ticket price will go up next year? I was thinking that next year they’ll leave it as they won’t want to add an upcharge and price hike at the same time, but I could very well be wrong.

Also, out of curiosity would you say people would pay much more than £55 for an entry ticket? I don’t think that I would (perhaps for the season pass but not for a day) which is why I ask. :)

Purely based on the fact that they have increased the gate price every year since Merlin took over, could well be wrong though.

The gate price is set artificially high to allow for the 241offers and now to make the season pass appear better value, very few people actually pay the price. Legoland’s gate price is £60 on certain dates so I suspect Merlin feel there is more scope to push the price up.

Just had a quick look for some very important dates for me (2 nights around 21/9), we stopped in splash this year for around £180, same weekend next season is currently coming up over £500. Yikes

I'll be surprised if the season pass goes up by much, if at all. It's been a massive success. Seems to have changed the way people visit the park. So many repeat visitors there these days. And season pass holders get the "take a friend for £15" offer. I took a few friends this year, and two of them even brought season passes of their own

Yeah, the 2019 Season Pass is still priced at £55. :)

Take this with a pinch of salt of course, but I’ve just seen a post claiming that in 2019 we’ll see the alton towers dungeons in the CATCF structure (of course) but the same post claims that it is to be free for premium annual pass holders. According to the post, we’ll also see N: ST reopen in 2019. It also claims that as the dungeons are funded about 60% by the midway budget and 40% by the towers budget, towers have the budget and have therefore decided to add a derren brown ghost train style attraction within the old Ice age building. Also, it claims next year the submission site will see the addition of a small drop tower. It doesn’t mention the time frame for this next project, but it says we’ll see an underground coaster at the top of forbidden valley (similar in design to a previously planned cross valley coaster but underground to mitigate noise complaints) so the blade will be removed in the forseeable future.

I don’t really believe this, it seems like a possibility that we could see flats funded by the portion of the budget not used for the dungeons, but I was wondering what everyone else thought about this?

The only believable parts for me are the Dungeon going in the CATCF building and the Blade being removed (it needs to go). The rest sounds a bit ambitious...

Would be awesome though! :)

I saw said post and I only believe the blade removal (maybe) and NST reopening. I can’t imagine they will put a dbgt attraction in, I don’t believe towers have the budget after sw8 for a massive new dark ride along with the dungeons.
We can only hope though, it would be great for the park and bring some life back to cloud cuckoo land

Certainly would be great if it happened. I suppose if it was to be a DBGT attraction, they could recycle the galactica VR system, but I don’t see how they could fit VR into the kids area of the park which makes it all seem very unlikely to me. Also, the rumour of getting a drop tower on submission’s site seems odd. If N:ST reopemed that would have 4 drop towers. If they opened one on submission’s site, that’s 5. If they opened one or two in the dungeons as rumoured, then theres 6-7! There’s no way that would happen!

As a thought, I was wondering if they would reopen N:ST on two drop towers with the other two moved to the dungeons. It seems like that could be a logical step, to me at least.

I’m not sure what I think about an underground SW9. Is that possible?

It normally takes a few weeks into close season before discussion descends into wishful thinking and outright delusion.

I see that this year it took 24 hours.

I wouldn’t say it’s delusion, at all. I don’t believe it, so surely it’s not. I just thought it would be an interesting concept to discuss- I remember the first time I saw Wicker Man coming out of the tunnel just before the lift hill I wondered if it went underground as that’s how it looked at the time (when it was in construction) which is why the idea I saw posted intruiged me.
