Parkitect - New Rollercoaster game

Sort of, I've been checking in on Reddit which they seem pretty active on. I've never really found it a big enough issue to complain about and just figured someone would build a coaster cam. People are reluctant to mod it whilst it is still in alpha.

It's a great game otherwise and I'm glad it's full of cute little moments like the one you described :). I haven't played it for a little while, so maybe it will be worth a revisit over the close season once I've finished Mario.

I actually managed to solve this myself looking (without doing anything clever). Just in you want to want to update and install the Coaster Cam here's what I did. (I did this on Win10 and using Alpha 18 of the game, no idea if this works on anything else)

Try to compile the mod and it will fail. Head to the install folder and look for the mod in the pnmods folder for Coaster Cam and look for the mod.log file. Open this with a note editor of your choice. (copy and rename if you want a back up.)

The error will look something like this
Error: CS0266: 142:36: Cannot implicitly convert type 'IMouseSelectable' to 'SerializedMonoBehaviour'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) in c:\redacted\Documents\Parkitect\pnmods\ParkitectNexus@CoasterCam\CoasterCam\CoasterCam.cs

This first number is the line of the error and the second is the character it failed at. The file path at the end is the C# file of the mod.

Head to that file and on the line number suggested by the mod.log, insert //
This will comment out the line and should now allow you to recompile the code using the Parkitect Nexus client.

you can now enable the mod in game and press the R key to enter a ride and press X to remove the HUD. Press R again to leave and X to bring back up the HUD

Disclaimer: This worked for me with no adverse affects as I can tell. Obviously you can do this at your own risk. This will only fix the Coaster Cam mod and I wouldn't recommend blindly commenting out lines in any other mod as a solution.

Weirdly since recompiling I have noticed that the mod.log for Coaster Cam is no longer commented out (that bit makes sense) but now recompiles without issue despite the text being the same.(strange)

Bumping an old topic, but Parkitect has now been released on Steam and is out of Beta. Some of the new changes include a Career section where you have to complete set challenges. You can also find out how Immersive your park is and try to produce the best park to draw in the guests!

The Devs have been incredibly active this week since the release, with 3 updates already. It's still a bit fiddly and there is plenty of clipping issues. The most frustrating thing for me is you can't easily move anything, so if you make a mistake you have to delete the whole thing and start again. (You can save as a blueprint and rebuild but it's still clunky) and the lack of an undo button.

However the game is soo much fun and is much closer to RCT than PlanCo and the awful RCT touch. My favourite thing to do it to "accidentally" drop janitors in the traffic chute, it's hilarious.

If you are on the fence about buying I would heartily recommend watching Geekism's videos to see how much Parkitekt has come along

Sad news is that coastercam is no more :( I hope they add that, a move button and an undo button in the next full release.

The weekly build challenges are also fun. You build a ride to set conditions and submit it to Steam. The winning ride gets included in the games blueprints :)

@MattyH have you seen immersion actually do anything? In the western park I purposely placed loads of western scenery everywhere and the immersion meter barely moved but guest comments indicated they loved the scenery. ???

I keep meaning to start playing again, it's come a long way! Last time I played there was a quirk with the coaster builder that prevented overvanked curves so hopefully that's fixed now.

Funny you mention undo/moving stuff, I never considered that as AFAIK none of the RCT games had it.

It's still a little buggy but nothing is a showstopper anymore. Campaign is fun, you should give it another go.

You are correct that these don't exist in RCT but I want 2018 functions :p I'm spoilt by the drag and move ability of PlanCo.
