Little Changes: What would you do?

Except the public are useless at this kind of thing. They don't read, don't think or don't understand what is recyclable and therefore contaminate the recycling.

Even where I live, people put plastic bags into the recycling bin even though at eye level it says in big letters "no plastic bags"

There’s is that I guess..... silly Jo Public

I see people calling for the return of Courtyard Tavern/Welcom-Inn, Some of my best times this season (every season) were at the Welcom-Inn, My call is that the bar should be extended and offer a food selection besides the "Wraps that unwrap" around the corner, Host more sports games (the World Cup was a fantastic experience) inside the square.

I'd increase the seating around the park as a whole with more food/drink options throughout. I can't go anywhere in Phantasialand without buying a beer/drink and Alton Towers should be no different.

Single Rider Queues should return alongside baggage holds.

More magic (Where did that stuff go anyway)

More meet ups.

More beer.

Thanks.

Agreed about the seating, there needs to be more of it. Particularly when eating outside, under cover, out of the rain and the ducks!

Bring back the Barbie burger stall with lattice fries in the courtyard, and allow the use of real money at the bar!

A wider variety of food options would be good. I know pizza and burgers are “staple” theme park food but if Disneyland* can offer so many different things on quick service other parks should too.

If merlin are gunna bang on about being second only to Disney, then they should at least try and offer some food that’s more than subpar.

*not Paris, food is rubbish there.

And a greater variety in the sit down restaurants like Rollercoaster and Woodcutters would be a great start. Yes burgers are always popular but it would be good to have more variety again on those menus.

A guided tour of the gardens or better still a slow transport using one of those semi train things with a live commentary and q and a.

Live tour and commentary of the towers. Make the most of what makes AT unbeatable against any theme park in the world.

Loan a few dummies from Madam Tussauds and have a small Alton Towers Waxworks with the dummies being regularly swapped around - No upcharge.

Return of the planetarium in the towers. I know the projector is rotting away in Oblivions queu line, but a new one wouldn't cost much. Chance to cross theme it to the garden sheds, sorry, stargazing pods. Soak up some of the queues at little expense.

Return of the huge train set in the towers. I loved it as a kid. Reckon a new generation of kids would too.

Gut the utter waste of money that was ice age 4D, buy back a fantastic fountains experience like the one they used to have and and put it back where it belongs. I'm sure Watermouth Castle would sell theirs cheap. In fact, the fantastic fountains at watermouth castle are so similar to what used to hear Alton, it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same hardware. Being magical doesn't need hundreds of thousands of pounds of hi tech hardware. Just a child like imagination.

Employ a couple of extra gardeners and restore the gardens to their former glory.

Clean or paint the sign as you drive in from Farley. AT should be magical from the moment you enter.

It's Alton Towers. Actually let us go in or up the towers most of the year.

Zip line from the top of the towers to mutiny bay. I would not mind a small upcharge for this, say a pound a go to cover the staffing costs. A zip line to the lowest point in the gardens would be better still but would never get planning permission.

Medieval Banquet in the towers both out of hours and out of season. A traditional old english meal with hog roast, mead, pewter tankards, knights, ladies in waiting, heroes and villains. A premium experience that Merlin could charge the earth for and in my view an actor led experience that would actually work. Just double the price, slap some half price tickets out on Wowcher and the place will be heaving. I've done some similar things with "half price" Wowcher deals and they were hugely popular. Merlin could do it better.

Here's a very simple thing that I believe would really help improve the visitor experience. Please Alton Towers, I would love you to remove the miserable Pathway of Peril that runs between Spinball and the Towers.

A murky ex-service road, with road markings still visible, lined with dirty fences as if to hide the overflowing bins you are probably walking past. It was meant for vans, not guests! The Awful Avenue is by far the worst part in the entire park.

Being one of the first paths that you walk down from Towers Street, I feel all it does is suck some of the enthusiasm guests have upon entering and gives adults a depressing impression about what they've just paid for. You think you've made it out the other side, but no! For you must side step the backend of a toilet block, dodge the football weilding hosts that await by Goalstriker, before you finally get the amazing view of the Towers and the attractions ahead.

The recent addition of audio in this area at least shows that Alton Towers recognises the Stricken Street needs improving. But instead of covering it up with an Edward Scissorhands-soundalike track playing on tinny nasty speakers, why not fix the problem completely? By just reopening the original lakeside route, and removing the incredibly ugly Goalstriker building?

An aerial view easily shows the old path, also where the scare zone was in recent years.
Also here's where it clearly once began to the left, with gates hiding the access road to the right.
Here's the lakeside plaza out the other end, with the beautiful Goalstriker building now plonked in front.

I faintly remember having a picnic there when I was a kid on my first visit to the park, looking up at the Towers sitting under a tree by the lake. It's a lovely little corner of the park that is just gone now. In the past, it was home to a swimming pool (probably still there, filled in under the Goal striker thing).

The only cost of reopening the old path seems to be moving Goalstriker, just stick it in a tent somewhere out the way, or get rid (they managed to get rid of the one at Chessington few years back). I'd say this is a very fair cost to saving guests from taking the Road to Ruin.

Let's make it happen Alton Towers!

I would love this to happen. That path is genuinely so dark and depressing, and really detracts from the experience of walking though the otherwise scenic park. I’m assuming they literally decided to close the original pathway just so they could use the plaza that it opens up onto for silly money grabbing HB leisure games.

Quite sad really. They should remove the Goalstriker, but there is probably enough room to keep the hole in one golf challenge, and there is probably enough room to maybe add a small coffe lounge type place near the side of the plaza.

• bring back srq’s
• update the tv’s in the oblivion station/queue line and replace the ones in the smiler queue that are filled with dead pixels
• bring back waterfalls on rapids
• no guns on duel return it to its greater form
• line up the frogs on towers street so the water actually goes in their mouths and doesn’t completely miss

1. A general maintained cleanup
2. General clean up of TVs
3. Quieter days opening times of 10:00 - 18:00
4. Busier opening times of 9:00 - 19/20:00
5. More entertainment - Live musicians playing at various areas would be great
6. restore rapids waterfall / wave machine

and for laughs a big one

Rethink of theming across the park, make it feel like more an experience rather than just a theme park

I agree about entertainment - the place feels quite soulless. There's just rides and a few F&B and gaming stalls (which are probably not open). Having entertainers roaming around, live shows and music etc would make the place more vibrant and "magical".
