Unpopular Opinions: Theme Park Edition

Hollywood RRR at Universal Florida is one of the most mediocre ride experiences of all time. Totally inoffensive, yet also totally without merit.
Yeah it's just a bit naff isn't it really.

It's a huge crowd pleaser though, the 'general public' seem to love it.

  1. Inferno is better than Nemesis
  2. Nemesis and Munich Looping are good but not spectacular coasters
  3. Duel is better than hex

Fuga Da Atlantide rarely gets any coverage despite being a decent ride and amazingly themed. I still think it's one of the best themed Merlin rides.
I've only done it the once, but our group got bored on the river sections and resorted to splashing people. I think someone found (or had smuggled aboard) a plastic cup, so everyone got soaked.

I don't enjoy Arthur - The Ride at Europa-Park, or indeed the entire Minimoys Kingdom area, and am totally happy to skip that part during my visits.

- Red Force is fine; it's not as terrible as people make it out to be.
- It's a shame Vekoma have seemingly put a nail in the SLC coffin.
- Hyperion is overrated.
- The world would be a better place if every **** dark ride was re-themed to a souvenir shop with dinosaurs living in the cellar celebrating their birthday.

A way to liven up all water rides. Although a cup should be considered cheating!

Totally get that. I think of Intamin super splashes as being all about the drops. Most are generally bland until you get to the top. I'm not sure if I was underwhelmed by mammut, melting in the heat or concussed from Blu Tornado but I just wasn't expecting that level of theming.

Can't wait to get hate messages ;)

  • I get bored of shows at theme parks and don't bother watching them, I haven't seen any other fireworks display in WDW besides Happily Ever After.
  • Nemesis is overrated and I don't particularly enjoy inverted coasters
  • I think that Disney World is the worst part of Orlando and would rather go to Fun Spot
  • I think the vast majority of UK Theme Parks are bad value for money and would rather go abroad once a year than go to many UK parks in a year.
  • The only good part of Alton Towers is meeting up with friends and going for a drink in The Welcom-Inn
  • Thorpe Park is better than Alton Towers
  • Saw: The Ride is the best ride at Thorpe Park.

I'll come up with more eventually.

* Madame Freudenreich Curiosities is better than Eurosat Can Can Coaster
* Splash Landings has some charm to it
* Red Force is good
* As is Thunder Dolphin

Pirates at EP was really rather ****; the fire and subsquent re-building of the ride may actually turn out to be a good thing!

This is a thread for UNPOPULAR opinions, not ones which are obviously right!

I have said that I think Intamin are over-rated? And that Taron is only a good ride because of the themeing and atmosphere around it and the actual layout itself could do with something more than just corners?

Right, I have a few to contribute after this summer and some further thinking:
  • Nickelodeon Streak is my favourite BPB woodie.
  • Icon is my favourite UK coaster.
  • The Swarm is my favourite Thorpe coaster.
  • Grand National is too rough to fully enjoy.
  • I prefer Wicker Man to Megafobia.
  • I prefer Mako to Icon.
  • Manta is my least favourite of SeaWorld Orlando's 3 B&M's.
  • I prefer Incredible Hulk to both sides of Dragon Challenge.
  • I prefer Troublesome Trucks to Buffalo Mountain Coaster at Drayton Manor (Troublesome Trucks was actually surprisingly good for a kiddie coaster!).
  • Vampire at Chessington is quite rough and I prefer Dragon's Fury.

I was more thinking it was uncommon because in the eyes of most enthusiasts, especially on this site, Mack launch coasters seem to be rated more highly than B&M hypers. Also, I've seen quite a few people who prefer Icon to Shambhala, and Shambhala always seems to be rated even more highly than Mako, so I was just making presumptions from what I've read online.

I, as I said above, rate Mako higher than Icon because I remember the airtime being stronger and more sustained on Mako, and I just remember it doing slightly more for me than Icon did. Icon is still outstanding, though; definitely my #2!

Fair enough bud.

From what I can see, the only Mack launcher which gets held in such high regard is Helix. Then there is a huge gap, and then comes Blue Fire/Icon etc.

Right, I have a new one after yesterday that may ruffle a few feathers, so I apologise in advance: Flight of Passage, while fantastic, is overrated in my opinion.

Couldn’t agree with you more there @Matt N
I mean, I really liked Flight of Passage, but I didn't think it was the second coming like some people seem to. I thought that
the creature breathing on you
was very clever and different, and there were some clever effects and tricks in there, but it didn't impress me quite as much as some of the other dark rides I've done. I'd say I personally prefer both Potter dark rides at Universal Orlando, Spider-Man at IOA, Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios and possibly even Transformers at Universal Studios Florida. Don't get me wrong, Flight of Passage is a fantastic attraction, but I didn't think it was "the best in the world" or even the best in WDW like many proclaim it to be.

I also have a couple more that I have discovered on this trip:
  • Rock'n'Rollercoaster at Hollywood Studios is my favourite WDW roller coaster and is not that rough, in my opinion; I only found it to have a bit of a rattle in places.
  • Slinky Dog Dash is one of the stronger coasters in WDW, in my opinion; despite one or two dead spots, I found it to be an immensely enjoyable family coaster with some great moments and even a couple of pops of gentle airtime!
  • Tower of Terror is my favourite ride in WDW.
  • I do not normally tend to watch shows in theme parks, although I am going to watch Rivers of Light and Happily Ever After later in my trip.
  • Although I am willing to reserve judgement on Epcot, I think I personally prefer Universal to Disney.

- Hyperion at Energylandia is utterly forceless and almost entirely lacking any thrills after the first drop, it pales in comparison to B&M hypers and isn't even the best coaster at the park (Formula and Speed)

- Legendia is a much more pleasant park to visit than Energylandia, despite having generally pretty naff rides. It has a beautiful lakeside setting, a couple of great places to chill with a pint, and one of the best coasters in Europe in Lech Coaster.

  • Ninjago: the Ride is the 2nd best Merlin UK dark ride after Hex
  • LEGOLAND is my 2nd favourite park in the UK due to it being the best all round park that doesn't solely focus on rides (coming from someone who loves roller coasters)
  • Rapids are better than log flumes
