Larger people on rides

@Ethan don't forget you're restraint will be locked in much closer to the seat back if you are on the smaller side ... Galactica is quite generous I find, but my friend can't get on it due to her body shape, it just won't lock her in chest:waist ratio will generally mean you will be pinned in safely and won't be flopping about too much on there no matter if you're XS or XL

It's funny, some parks/ride ops treat the maximum as a guide rather than a strictly enforced limit.

One of the reasons I've only really gotten into theme parks and roller coasters in the last couple of years is that I always thought I was too tall to ride most good rides in UK parks. But it seems like if you can fit, then you can ride in many places, despite the restrictions.

Having not been to AT yet (my first visit is in 10 days time!!), we emailed them to check because there's a couple of rides with maximum height limits.


Not too fussed by Rita, and if Spinball Whizzer is the same as Dragon's Fury at Chessington then I'm not too bothered about that either - but I would quite like to ride TH13TEEN. But I managed to fit on The Barnstormer at WDW so I figure I can probably just about squash into it somehow.

That's surprising, I was under the impression upper height limits were there as anyone taller would hit their hands off of something if they kept them up.

I would have thought that overall height would be a difficult metric to judge that by - some people have very long arms but a relatively normal stature. I would imagine it's more to do with legroom and restraints rather than head or arm clearance (which I guess would have a much bigger margin of error?)

You can hit things with your hands on lots of coasters when you are under the maximum height.

The Mouse could take both your arms off at the elbow.
You can reach the track on most of the coasters in Blackpool if you are stupid enough to try.

I'm 6ft 2 and have to duck on the RMT. The supports come frighteningly close!

I'm never sure how close those supports actually are. On The Dragon at LEGOLAND (can't remember if it's Windsor or Billund I'm thinking about), the headchopper element always feels insanely close, and I duck out of instinct... but surely our heads aren't at the same height as other people's raised hands, are they? And I don't recall any severed fingers on that ride.

It's because the supports are triangular. I have to lean in to avoid the risk of hitting them.

You don't have to duck in the mine train...it just feels that way.
People said the same with the mouse lift hill...you had to duck on the way up.
No you didn't...six foot four, could sit bolt upright on the hill.
But it was scary.
And lost arms...no idea.
Lots of minor bumps and post contact, mainly by people trying to get their phones back.
So if something was reported dropped, the ride would close and collect for safety reasons.

It’s the leg restraints that I find most uncomfortable on Galactica. Really hurt my shins.

Thirteen is tight for me, due to big quads. Nemesis needs a bit of a shove to get the belt in.
