Universal Orlando (Studios/IOA/Epic Universe) : General Discussion

Forgive me but I haven’t seen any concept art for this ride

There isn’t any as Universal have not announced the project yet or even acknowledged they are building a new coaster. It’s expected to open in just over a years time in spring 2021 so should be announced at some point this summer

Forgive me for but how do we know this is a JP coaster then

Because all of the footers are in the Jurassic World/Park area of IOA and there are people with inside sources over on the Universal forums who know stuff.

Lots of footers and supports currently in place on the new coaster. Photos by bioreconstruct.

Are those OTSR's? I know it's only speculation but surely they're not considering anything other than the modern Taron style restraints.

I hope they keep it as Jurassic Park rather than world as those sequels are really bad. I mean, all the sequels are pretty bad but Jurassic Park is iconic. Then again, so was Jaws...

I was reading it seems likely that they won't change it because of the visitors centre etc being from the first film. Also, the raptors were never part of any tour in the films so this article suggested it could be an Ingen theme rather than the park itself.

By all accounts they will keep the land as Jurassic Park but the area will be a mix of Jurassic Park and World. The new coaster is expected to be based on the raptors from World, along with the current raptor encounter (being moved into a more permanent home as part of this expansion). Plus likely to feature media in queue/preshow featuring Chris Pratt’s character and others , filmed during the filming of Jurassic World dominon

Regardless of people options the new films have been incredibly successful for universal so makes sense the new ride is based on the newer films.(I enjoyed the Jurassic World films, taken for what they are, a summer blockbuster. iThere is a chance they will retheme the River adventure at some point as well.

I'm happy to see the section near the Wizarding World is very close to the ground. I was worried the coaster would intrude on the areas sight lines but it looks like it'll only be visible when crossing the bridge from Jurrasic Park to Hogsmede.

After watching a few vlogs today with shots of the new Jurassic Park rollercoaster in view, I have to say I think it's a bit of an eye saw.

I understand that Hulk is over the lake too but it's to the side and doesn't obstruct the main view over the park, and it's quite a stylish? (if that's the right word) shape, unlike the mish mash of metal that is going to be Jurassic Park.

I could understand if it swooped over the lake and the rest of the coaster would be at the back of the land but having it infront of the land and buildings looks a bit messy to me.

I’m sure Universal will have thought visuals through when designing this coaster. Apparently, the coaster does not encroach on the sightlines in Hogsmeade, even in the bit where it comes very close to the area. With time, I’m sure Universal will make it look nice and it will blend in beautifully with its surroundings. Bear in mind, it is still very much an active construction site at the moment!

As for the coaster itself; I’m absolutely stunned by it! The layout looks phenomenal; some of the elements being built look absolutely fantastic!

I really hope I can get out to Florida in 2021 and ride it; if I do, I’ll be intrigued to see how it compares to Icon, as I absolutely adore that ride!
