Coke Freestyle Now Launched

I’ve yet to try it at towers yet but I noticed the other day all the ice pushers have been removed from the freestyle machines, which is a shame as I have known in the past for the drinks to not be really cold.

I guess it must be a corona thing as I’m sure they were there during the buy out days.
I believe the Orlando parks had theirs removed for safety, so it is quite probable the same has happened here.

Thorpe's could be pretty warm at times last year, so regular old bottle from the fridge in a shop might be better for the time being.

tried the coke freestyle today was impressed. Slight niggle though is that some of the machines (one by rapids walk and one by galatica) were all greyed out and empty.

One by wickerman was on full selection and flavours.

Just a heads up if you select a drink and press the button slightly it only dispenses a slight bit. Friend chose another drink and did the same again (instead of holding the button in) tried again and the cup got timed out for 5 minutes so cue him having to wait 5 mins to get a refill

In theory you can place a cup, dispense a bit, wait 60 seconds and continue dispensing as long as another cup is not placed and the first isn't placed on another reader/machine (70 second cap). But it's a bit glitchy.

Comments on social media suggesting Towers have managed to sell pre-used Freestyle cups. If true, that's a nice double whammy of food safety and COVID safety.

The suggestion appears that people are retuning the cups after finding the machines are frequently empty and getting a refund. Then they end up back in the for sale pile.

May well be a single isolated incident, but check your cups before using if buying new.

I would absolutely assume that, if it did happen at all, it was a one-off incident. Definitely not something that any company would do be default...

I'm not even sure how it happens, once used they would have to manually reset it to be able to sell it.
(If you see staff grab a "fresh' bottle and place it to the reader then something has gone wrong).

Depends how the system's set up surely. At Legoland, the bottles are all on display and not activated - they have to be activated at a till before working.

Oh that's not what a friend of mine who went said, I'm more focusing on how it works at THORPE and Alton for obvious reasons.

So correction: THORPE and alton, they are in a special state where they can grab them out of the shipping box and hand them over and it just works, so no c&c needed.

I noticed this week that prices of the freestyle cups has crept up. £14 now for one vessel making it twice the price of the previous ‘quenchers’.

The reactivation fee has also increased by £1 to £7.

Yes it seems to have gone up in the past week or so. However I noticed the prices at Thorpe remained the same when I went last week.

That seems high.
How much is a single use cup? As it seems very hard to drink enough to make the refills worthwhile. Although if you visit more than one day it’s better with reactivations.

Perhaps the price rise is to cover "double drinker" abuse.

There wasn't anything to stop you doing that with the old system either. One person can get cup and then share it.

I think the freestyle machine lock you out from getting a second refill within five minutes or similar which stops one person drinking the whole thing and immediately filling at least.

Yes they do but there's a design flaw and a configuration flaw that means you can fill as much as you want for about 70 seconds from first placing the vessel on the reader including into other bottles

I very much doubt your average punter is going to know this, and it certainly wouldn’t impact their decision to buy one or two cups when wandering down Towers St of a morning as it would only become apparent when filling the cup at a machine (and that’s if anyone would notice).

Perhaps? But it seems known In a few groups of both this issue (there's a way to place the tagged vessel so it reads whilst another bottle is underneath, and it's not configured to limit the dispensing to the volume of the vessel) and a few others with some people advocating for cheating the system.

Classic (& not Coke Classic either!) Only Merlin could be so incompetent... a bit like back in the Tussauds days when they had the "crack the safe to win £500" game by where Sub-Terra now sits dormant. They made one slight mistake and did not change the default PIN code on the safe. The £500 was won several times very fast (including on day 1) by guests who worked in shops that sold the model of safe in question. The game, needless to say, had a short lifespan.
