Scarefest 2020

There’s absolutely no chance of any new event for this Christmas at least. We are in July and only the other day the wind knocked out most of the park, can you imagine the sort of ride closures and stoppages if they opened up Over winter. That’s why the Santa sleepover operates as a children’s event as it’s easier to run the smaller rides then the big rides. Blackpool can get away with it as they do have more in the area to draw people in over a weekend with Alton there’s absolutely nothing near by to do if you are finished on the park by 12pm.

I got 2 tickets for the 25th October wasn’t quick enough to get the 31st Oct. If you collect the tokens you need 8 and the final token tomorrow or you scan the park you only need 7 and the booking window opened at 9am this morning and in August only Saturdays wasn’t available.
My daughter really wants to go on the rides in the dark and I really want to try Wickerman in the dark.

If Thirteen is open by then you've got to try it in the dark. Wicker Man is fantastic in the dark too. I'd love to do a Nemmy night ride this year as I missed out last year.

My daughter height is nearly 1.3 so be a while to I’m back on Nemesis and Oblivion. I have done 13 in the dark as I remember the actors walking around the woods and a women dressed like the girl in the advert.

Alton Towers Resort Jobs have just posted on their Facebook page that auditions will be opening for Scarefest roles at the end of July (can’t link the photo as I’m on mobile).

Obviously it’s not confirmation that the event will go ahead but it’s a sign of it becoming a possibility depending on the circumstances

Some key phrases to take from the new advert include:
-‘Product expanded’ could suggest event expansion perhaps
-‘Award-winning and brand new attractions’: perhaps some new experiences mixed with some old (2019, etc)
-There’s a big emphasis on new experiences/attractions

Could this suggest a totally new line-up, perhaps away from traditional scare mazes (due to social distancing?) Or perhaps just the usual where we have 1-2 new experiences and the rest are experiences which have previously been at Scarefest over the years.

I know we should never read into these adverts too much but sometimes they do give a glimpse of what the line-up could theoretically look like. I’d predict they’ll be a bigger emphasis on scare zones this year (being that they are outdoors where transmission is lower).

I can imagine the maze dispatches will just be in your 'social group', which will hit capacity hard. As the costs per dispatch do not vary I wonder whether ticketing wise you'll pay a set amount for a slot, rather than per person? You'd get to chose how personal (and expensive) an experience you get.

Queue for The Attic now being set up, and new shipping containers in place stacked on top of each other next to Goal Striker (see ScareTour Instagram).

Looks as if they’re planning for Scarefest to fully go ahead, and suggests we’ll have something new to experience.

Whilst the containers suggest something new, I think The Attic queue line has remained untouched since last Scarefest so wouldn’t read too much into that one.

The new maze is currently having some Freak Show/Carnival of Screams props installed, inferring that it'll be some sort of clown/circus scare maze. In the photos we can also see the social distance chevrons being laid out much like in queue lines rather than the dots seen in The Dungeons, implying that it'll be a walkthrough attraction. Also in another photo, it looks like it will be multi route with crawl spaces.

In the comments of the Facebook post, there has been a entertainment technician commenting #p3t35m1th (Not exactly hard to decode that one). Is this the name of some sort of ring master?

Are those the containers usually used for Sub-Species? I'm assuming that will be a no go this year due to social distancing and being unable to control groups crossing paths.

They were used for Sub Species and Darkest Depths.

Two things -

1. What are you predicting the new attraction next to the goal striker building going to be? Themes... experiences... scares... length etc.

2. How many attractions in total will there be? I'm pretty sure The Attic is returning and we have this new one so that's two... but how many others?
