Flamingo Land: General Discussion

Yeah, they've done the holding thing for years. It's certainly can be an annoyance when looking at throughput but it's pretty obvious that throughput isn't exactly Flamingo Land's top priority :tongueclosed:

Weirdly both Parque Warner and Parque Atracciones Madrid did that as well. Really infuriating when you've turned up late and just want to ride the coasters before park close.

It's a strange thing to do as the whole point of air gates is to batch groups before loading. They might as well not be there if not used.

Having said that I used to work on a ride with air gates that must of been on a low pressure system as guests frequently forced there way through them. As they were used mainly for batching it wasn't a major safety issue if they were breached but if this is the case on the rides in question it would explain why they arn't in use.

I believe it is a member of maintenance staff who has suffered injuries to their legs whilst working on a ride.

Hopefully nothing too serious, although it doesn’t sound good.

The ride in the article images is the Runaway Mine Train. Could be the ride in question.
Apparently it’s a “Dino” coaster. I’m not sure which one, as the park has two roller coasters themed to dinosaurs (Twistosaurus and Dino Roller), but I can only assume the latter based on the fact that the word Dino is commonly being used.

Dino Roller is the name of the coaster manufactured by Cavazza Diego and it used to be Dragon Rollercoaster until 2013 i think when it rethemed to fit Dino Stone Park. That's the coaster so not that great. Hope he recovers!

This is the 1st time I watched a vlog from Flamingo land and Shawn saying he hopes the new coaster has good theming but none of the 4 main coasters there hasn’t so I doubt this will.
Can’t tell if it’s worth a weekend away up there once the virus is under control as my daughter is under 1.3m tall currently.

We went last August and I have to say without doubt they have the worst park operations. It was a busy day when we went and you had to end up buying their version of fast pass to get on any of the major rides. The big water ride had a 2 hour queue ...as there were about three boats going around.

To be fair we made a good day of it as the sun was shining but it was a near a 3 hour drive for a below average experience. We were told Velocity wasn't open and then suddenly at 11.30am it was then opened and luckily for us happened to be walking past at the time.

My advice is think long and hard about whether it is worth it.

I wouldn’t drive there and back in a day as I make a weekend trip but if it’s not worth it then I do Chessington and Legoland over a weekend instead.

I last went to both in 2008 but my daughter was watching this vlog and asked if we could go next if it was all over. Think I will give it a miss to maybe she’s over 1.4 and have a holiday break in Yorkshire.
Makes sense. Don't get me wrong they have some good rides. Myself and my eldest liked Velocity and Kumali which I think is best SLC in the UK. Mumbo Jumbo is a good fun ride, it was just shame that the park turned into utter carnage. You could possibly do that with Lightwater together if it is still open.

Not worth it while she's under 1.4 and definitely not worth it in this time because of them making cuts due to the VAT or something like that. Operations looked terrible at the start of the day!

Unexpected treat (if you can call a Pinfari looper a treat) the other day. Went on the Crazy Loop at Brean. Whilst in queue I thought it looked strangely familiar. Looked it up after and yes it’s the ex-Flamingoland Crazy Loop, that I probably last went on when I was about 16. A nice surprise as I didn’t realise it still existed.

Ride Op seemed to be a coaster nerd, loved my Funshine mask & was talking about Space Invader. Said they had done well to keep it running so smooth ‘unlike this’ (folllowed by maniacal laughter) and described the Crazy Loop train as an ‘Angry shopping trolley’. A fair description I think. I don’t worry about the safety of rides, but seeing a ride weighted down by a tank of water so it doesn’t collapse always seems a bit weird!
