What changes to operations should we expect post Covid-19?

I have absolutely no intentions of renewing until this situation is well over. It’s just not financially viable right now to spend silly money on a pass to then fight for a ticket to get in. Living in wales means quite a distant from nearest merlin attraction so for me personally it’s not worth it right now.

If the problem is having too many pass holders though then:
- Why did they run a sale of MAPs throughout the month of July?
- Why are they still advertising 'pay once and come back all year'season passes?

These are not the actions of a company trying to reduce the number of guests getting in at a 'discounted rate' as you put it.

Yep, absolutely my point. They created the problem themselves, they've done seemingly zero to remedy that problem themselves and as you point out seem to have had a stab at actively making it worse.

Giving passholders the choice to 'reactivate' their pass now with restrictions or keep it deferred and extended would have also helped spread the demand without completely destroying the revenue stream.
So many options they haven't bothered with.

Updates to the COVID policy this morning after yesterday's announcement. Nothing particularly surprising, and appears to be a Merlin wide thing.

Following the Government update on 9th September, we ask guests not to visit in groups of more than six people* to help protect themselves and each other when visiting. Our team of dedicated Crowd Stewards will be reminding guests of this, and the other social distancing measures we have in place.

As a COVID-19 Secure venue we can still host larger numbers in total but groups of up to 6 must not mix or form larger groups. We will continue to monitor Government guidance closely.

With the chaotic way this government "functions" who knows what will happen. I spoke to a police officer the other day (a local force to me so no where near towers) who said they where not enforcing anything Covid related due to how chaotic and the ever changing government policy is, the resources available to them (he said they have far bigger fish to fry) and the practicalities of enforcement.

Police Scotland however are being very heavy handed.

Paultons Park have issued updated face covering requirements this morning, citing a change in government guidance for the theme park industry.

They're now requiring face coverings in all queue lines. I haven't found the guidance they're referring to, but it would seem that Towers should also be making this change tomorrow if it's a government requirement.

I thought Towers where already requiring masks in all queue lines?

Indoor sections only.

On my last visit, just under a week ago. They were requesting you get your masks ready when entering the queue, and some rides (Rita, Th13teen and Nemesis) were asking you to wear them on entering the queue line, could just be individual staff members going further with it, or a shift in towers' view on masks in queues. I can see it becoming mandatory in the next weeks or even days.

Currently you only need masks at towers inside queues or shops. It wouldn’t surprise me if it changes, as parks in Germany you have to wear masks as soon as you enter a queue line. Problem is at towers and in the UK in general I think you’ll get a lot of people who wouldn’t bother wearing them, and we know towers won’t enforce it.

Interestingly (and maybe related) Thorpe Park issued a clear announcement as we were entering this morning that masks should be worn at all times except when eating in a restaurant. Perhaps this reflected a change in rules.

This was ignored by perhaps 95% of people and those of us who started out by complying then (rightly or wrongly) gave up on this later in the day. Announcements in queue lines were more along the lines of what we have heard at Alton (stay socially distanced, mask on rides and indoors).

That said, considering beers were being sold for queue line consumption (I believe this isn't the case at Towers) I think trying to enforce it would have been pretty laughable.

Yeah no matter what they're saying, masks do NOT have to be worn in open air spaces currently, I'm not sure what they're on about but there was no change in regard to mask usage with the last Government update.

Listen to it again it actually says whilst in the dome.

With the temperatures starting to drop do u think Merlin will reopen there sit down restaurants again? As it’s really unfair on guests to pay high prices for food that will be cold in no time eaten outside.
