Paultons Park: General Discussion

Would you push a three year old to go on every ride in a day is the question?.
It's a lot for a toddler to take in .
And re rides

The park obviously just do not see themselves a multi-day attraction. Neither do I, but it is odd if there are folks wanting them. Unless you guys are literally the only folks wanting them!

I look forward to visiting later in the year when hotels are back open.

They did offer one before Covid but removed it when the restrictions came in. I understand it is a simple case of too much demand for too few tickets so giving a second day at a discount would do themselves a disservice. I expect to see them return off-peak as restrictions ease.

I'm a tad confused - from that POV it seems their spinning coaster doesn't actually spin?

Its an odd effect, but it is spinning. The the pov is circling around the ride vehicle as it spins, but the camera is turning to always face forward.

These Mack spinners don't rotate quickly though, its a much more subtle spin than a MS.

All depends on the weight distribution on each car, as usual with these types of coasters. We had 3 adults riding Sierra Sidewinder at Knotts and got pretty crazy spinning which made for a very good ride!

It would appear that construction on Farmyard Flyer is coming along nicely, as what appears to be a huge station building is already well underway:

Also, initial reviews of Storm Chaser sound very positive; Shawn’s review was “stunningly themed and surprisingly intense”!

Having ridden Sidewinder I think 'intense' is probably going to be a bit strong of a description. It's right for Paultons, but keep your expectations grounded.
He did say “surprisingly intense” in fairness; maybe he means that it was more intense than he’d expected?

I’m certainly not expecting a really, really intense ride by any means; I know that this is more of a family roller coaster.

Judging by the promising reviews, though, I’m very excited to see the area for myself in July, as well as to see the rest of Paultons Park for the first ever time!

It is also short. Only about 35 seconds from the top of the lift hill to the breaks.

Can't see it being better than their current best coaster, Cobra.

Does anyone know/has it been announced what kind of junior coaster this will be?
Not yet. Rumours are suggesting all kinds of ride types, ranging from a Mack/ART kiddie coaster like Duplo at Legoland and Baaa at Europa Park all the way through to a Zierer Force coaster or Zamperla Family Gravity Coaster.

Based on the layout of the footers, though, I’d aim small in terms of your speculation; this is going to be a fairly small kiddie coaster with an oval footprint, probably comparable in scale to Dino Chase.

I’d imagine that Storm Chaser is probably quite intense relative to everything else at Paultons Park, in fairness.

It’s also emerged that the ride is actually a little bit bigger than Sierra Sidewinder, so might well be more intense. Mack have released some additional stats:
  • Height: 19.5m
  • Length: 459m
  • Speed: 16.5m/s
  • Max g-force: 3.2
  • Throughput: 1,000 riders per hour

To be fair, £12m is a fair cost. This is a family coaster, remember. If a Merlin park added a family coaster of that scale, a flat ride and then some rethemes - I would expect the cost to be similar.

Indeed - it's just really nice to see a themed area in a UK park where shipping containers aren't the dominant feature.

I think for me, the nicest thing is to see an area come to life that isn't repaints over old, decrepid buildings. You also know the park will keep on top of it: just look at Lost Kingdom, which still looks good today.
