The World of David Walliams: General Discussion

I wonder if they'll wheel out David Walliams himself to promote the official opening.
Why do i get a image in my head of David Walliams being wheeled out on a sack truck by a member of merlin magic makers.

I wonder if this will have an on ride photo, as there seems to be a odd room at the end of the exit before the shop, which would make sense as a Picsolve kiosk.

Also looking at the queue plan, there’s no way to fit a pre show in there.

And for those asking about the outdoor queue line, I believe they are those fence posts which they can remove when not needed. So I guess in a few years it can be removed, or even on a quiet day if they wanted. A bit like the one outside the Wicker Man entrance.

Looking at the TT photo of the ride plans, it seems there's some text at the far end of the "out and back" section of the indoor queue. I'm not sure if a higher quality version of the plans is available that shows what's written there but it could indicate it's going to have a queue line photo point.

Yes the plans seem to show a queue line green screen photo point here.

Whilst it is not totally clear it is situated next to what appears to be a photo collection counter on the other side of the wall, with a staff access door between the two sides.

Why do they seem to install these on new attractions then scrap them a year after. Galactica, Darren brown etc

Yep, they removed the photo counter at the end a couple of years back.

i think that we will see more photo counters go soon and a big move to digital photos.
Disney has pretty much done away with them and on some rides they are just using Bluetooth to work out who is on the ride (via MagicBand or iPhone) and it then appears in the app, not even any screens at the exit showing photos.

Well they're implementing the new imagic (I think that's what it's called) facial recognition service when it comes to on ride photos at most Merlin parks I believe. It looks quite impressive, I'll be intrigued to see how it works.

Hmm, facial imaging software on rides where we have to wear face-masks at present... run that one past me!

I think I read somewhere recently that most facial recognition software can still recognise most faces with masks on.

That said... I'm not sure why you'd want a photo of yourself with your face covered (but then again I also don't really know why people would want to buy a photo of themselves whilst screaming on a ride)

The system should still detect your face even if you are wearing a mask, provided that the picture you took in the app was of you wearing the same mask. Or at least I would assume how they are doing this. It's entirely possible that they are still training the system and so it may take some time for it to get more accurate, but I haven't read too much into their implementation so I couldn't say 100%.

Continuing to send this slightly off-topic, but the imagic system does generally work with masks.

It provides you with a watermarked but relatively Instagramable preview of your photo, so I expect to see lots of these on social media rather than anyone paying the £15.00.

Cant see it lasting.

Has an opening date been set ? I’m wondering if it will stay closed until the 22nd May , or if they will open it as soon as restrictions allow on the 17th
