Duel after 20 years of been over run by Zombies the original residents of the house want it back and need your help. With your help take out all the zombies which will be a mixture of screens and dummies looking like zombies and by the time you travel past the outdoor section of the house you taken them all out and the rest of the ride is the ghosts and monsters taking back there house.
It will keep the original fans of the haunted house happy as it’s half brought back as the haunted house but they also upgraded duel for the current generation who love to beat the scores of there friends/family.

Come to think of it, even during the Tussauds years IP's weren't much better handled. With the exception of the Peter Rabbit Ice show and in someways Cbeebies Land (someone can correct me on this), there have been several duffs over the years such as Nickelodeon Outta Control and ofc Charlie, the latter being perhaps the most hated ride at Towers.

Can't comment on Thorpe and Chessie but pretty much Merlin + some IP = lacklustre or very crap attraction.

Little wonder why I'm bias to think any future IP done by Merlin that's not connected to CBeebies Land is doomed to fail.

Beanoland at Chessington was fairly well received wasn’t it?
But yes Tussauds seem to have more success with IP for shows, Peter Rabbit, Barney, Tweenies etc.

Also of course Madame Tussaud’s has had a lot of areas over the years based on movies etc and currently has a large Star Wars area. But then Madame Tussaud’s creative teams job has always been to make things that look like other things so it’s no surprise they had more success.
I recall my Mum taking a school trip to MT and the most popular part was the Big Brother diary room!

To bring this topic back to life, been thinking about what might be changed for the overall experience. Knowing how Towers can throw in little Easter eggs around the place, I have been thinking if Duel was to have little in jokes for the enthusiasts, I have just thought of something that would be a major Easter egg for the park's history but perhaps the most terrifying thing that many from a certain age will know who I'm talking about...

Yes, having that demon from Hell on the new version of Duel/HH would increase the scare factor far more than many of Merlin's 'scary' attractions in recent years.

The thought of that thing lying around in the Towers Boneyard awaiting to be reuse gives me the creeps. Give it some horror TLC theming and oh God the less said the better!
I’d quack myself if that ever emerged from its grave again.

Even worse, imagine the reborn duck was using the Smiler theme but instead of laughs, it's quacks...nightmare fuel incarnate.

As far as I feel at the time when the ride was open, that duck became something of an infamous character for not just the enthusiast community but also from ride staff and even the GP alike, all of whom were terrified of that duck. Look at videos of Flume on YouTube and many GP POV videos seem to be of scary stories about the giant nightmare duck that gave some kids nightmares, honestly I don't blame them; a real cult figure at Towers more so than poor old Henry Hound.

Knowing how the ride staff on Duel like to be trolls on teasing us such as the skeletons in the queue recently, I won't be surprised if they have secretly planned to include the duck in the revamped ride somehow. That would be the ultimate troll move in the history of Alton Towers and all we know they read these forums!

Just watched this video on you tube

Now they could easily keep shooting part of the ride but also include scenes to keep the fans of the original HH happy.

Oooo chile, this looks a little...basic. If this re-theme isn't done right, it's going to be another Ramses: Il Risveglio to Jumanji...and that wasn't good.

It's a real shame Candy Holland is now full-time in the Legoland division.

I don’t think Jumanji was a retheme, in fairness; that was a brand new ride where they built an entirely new ride system from Oceaneering for it.

As such, any retheme Duel gets will likely have a greater budget allocated for theming, as the cost of building a brand new ride system won’t be there taking money away like it was with Jumanji.
