[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

My only criticism is they closed the queue far too early, we were in one of the last groups let through around 8pm and queued for less than an hour. Reckon it could have stayed open as late as 8.45 and they would still have had ages to run it off before the Wardley train.

Unforgettable night though!
Glad you had a great night. It's difficult to gauge these things perfectly. They were perhaps budgeting for a breakdown too, which would not be too much of a stretch in recent months.

I can only hope that this is all just silly marketing ploys and that Nemesis will return in it's full glory in 2024 without tanks, boiler suits, "red" painted track and a new "Sci-Fi" theme as others have suggested. But seeing all this nonsense I'm loosing hope.
Glad I’m not the only one. Can’t help but think the budget for last night could have been spent elsewhere other than to appease a couple of hundred enthusiasts on park.

If we are assuming the LAB numbers they seem to be pushing quite a lot are colour references (which seems likely due to the similarity to the Phalanx branding used over the past few weeks), would it be a relatively safe bet to say these are the colours we can expect the new track to be painted? It feels like it fits together quite nicely but then again to hide RAL colours within a marketing campaign seems like a whole new level of geek appeasement from Alton!

Personally I think this could look quite cool, but imagine there could be uproar from some parts of the community!

The planning documents that were submitted for the refurbishment of Nemesis specifically stated that there would be no material changes to the appearance of the ride. Therefore I doubt they will be changing the colour of the track.

I think the nemesis marketing was correct and is the right send off for the ride. If they hadn't done the marketing around it people would be saying Merlin don't care about the rides and how sad it is.
I agree with this. I don't think it would have cost too much to print out some posters and wristbands and give some cheap boiler suits to some actors. I personally don't fully understand the whole Phalanx thing (it originally came from the Nemesis comic right?) but I'm a fan of 'story' rides at theme parks and I think its nice to see a bit of over the top pomp at Alton Towers for the closure of arguably their most famous ride.

I’m surprised how emotional I was last night, I had my last rides back in March, carrying a shoulder injury so just couldn’t do it in October, although pleased my kids did (multiple times).
Dunno if it’s just my age showing but it’s the only ride in the uk that genuinely gives me the tingles when I enter the queue line.

Not sure if we will ever visit next year as for me its nemesis that makes the drive worth it

Ah that's interesting. I'd assume that those trains would necessitate a new control system then?
I don't know. There are a lot of assumptions about what is being replaced and what is not.

On the face of it, I am not sure why you would replace the trains and the PLC. Components of the trains have been replaced relentlessly over the past 28 years and the electronics may or may not be in need of replacement - of all things, that feels harder to judge.

Unless they are absolute wizards, the paint and appearance will absolutely be different than it currently stands

I think that means that the layout appearance will remain the same, why go through the motion of literally stating RAL paint numbers if it's not for something significant.

I absolutely welcome the idea of Black or red track nemesis I think it would be interesting to see, I still strongly believe that nemesis as we know it, is gone, the marketing seems to be ushering in big changes, and I for one welcome it, as much as I adore nemesis as it is!

But the chassis is the original, which is also the major structural component of the whole train. That will surely be reaching the end of it's service life by now.

And here is TPWW video of the final day.

Like the little detail towards the end of the video of the Nemesis beast roaring out of anger about 25:49 in the video, not the track but monster sounds in which I'm not sure it ever had those sounds before ever. Either way it does add a little more to the theming even if it's for a farewell event.

Why surely ? I'm not saying it isn't - I just don't understand why it would happen to co-term.

Nor, could I tell you hand on heart that the chassis are originals. On the B&M rides I have worked on (that were newer than Nemesis), at least one of them didn't have a completely original chassis.

Operators would love it if they ended up getting the funky chair they have on OzIris.
