The Hotels: A Journey

The pizza situation in Dragon Bar is a bit of a joke anyway. I got back after the fireworks starving so went to the bar to order a pizza, and they told me to go to SGR and I could order it there. That was correct, however I could only order it to my room, not the bar. I think the manager I was speaking to knew this was stupid when I pointed out that I was going to have to wait in my room for an undefined period of time for a pizza to turn up when I had a table with friends in the bar. But, computer says no.

She did say if you look out for someone with a pizza I might be able to intercept it on the way up to the room, which I did. But surely they can just go and tell someone that the pizza is for someone sitting in the bar area like they do in Margs!

It’s only Scarefest and fireworks season where there is a huge need for late night food options and you’d have thought they would have a better solution by now.
Why they can’t keep part of SCR or Flambo’s open til at least 11pm on those nights with a reduced menu makes no sense.

Just some chips, onion rings and that sort of stuff would’ve been fine. Even just a fridge with a selection of sandwiches in. There’s not a single thing complicated for any of them.

When there’s fireworks combined with the late last ride event, it’s ridiculous it hasn’t been considered. As has been said many times before, when budget hotels are capable of arranging this sort of stuff there’s no excuse for Towers not being able to do it. This wasn’t just a few people asking about it either, there were stacks of people in that bar until late on Sunday, and we overheard others commenting on it too.

I remember the time they wouldn't serve a bowl of chips outside at Crooked Spoon when we were having a few drinks.

"We don't serve food outside" was the rule.

Is there any legitimate reason why someone would implement this rule? 🤔

Oh circkey yes, I'd forgotten about this!

At a place like Alton Towers, staff are either not allowed or just too afraid to use some initiative in order to help guests out. Everything has to be done by the book, no exceptions.

I do wonder if Aramark taking over might actually help the hotels. Yeah I’m sure prices may rise and quality may change, but it’s in their interest to make money and do what the customer wants.

Currently it’s almost as if they are set up to go against the customer. But Aramark might see the opportunity to extend hours, choice, etc.

Famous last words, but it really can’t get much worse.

Breakfast times reduced, Hotels made more expensive, bar selection reduced, effects in Splash and ATH not working.

It could get a lot worse

From someone who works in restaurants, it could be the reason of it just isn't staffed up to serve food outside. It's a case of if you serve one table outside then everyone wants it, and then you've got a whole station of people wanting food and no staff to serve / clear it.

It used to be fine when it opened, then I imagine they decided to cut some costs and staff and just say no food outside. The hotels at towers often go out of their way to annoy their guests to be fair

There was nobody else outside.

Literally, chips.

Yes, but then someone else turns up, see's people eating outside and you then can't say no to them and it snowballs.

I'm not defending Towers, I think the hotels have become a joke and I've not used them for years now but I'm just saying some things aren't as black and white as they seem.
