Found this earlier. I think it’s from NYE 2004 (ish) where towers opened the gardens to hotel guests in New Year’s Day and you could walk around them with this guide. I remember being the only 2 people in the park with all the music playing.

Alton NYE gardens walk

Was there anything to stop you straying out of the gardens and in to the themed areas?
No. We wandered down to Nemesis where the music was playing which was very surreal. Didn’t wander too far as the weather came in and it chucked it down!

We did this as day guests in winter around the same time. It was a great opportunity to take my grandma who hadn’t visited in years and wanted to take a look around the gardens. We stopped for a late lunch in the hotel afterwards. Back then there was a pretty reasonable lunch menu available in the atrium.
I seem to recall trying to take a peak at certain areas but there were the standard pedestrian barriers closing off most of the ride areas. It was extremely quiet - I think we just have seen no more than a handful of people in the couple of hours we were walking around.
