Anyone else really looking forward to the idea of there being multiple dark rides at the park again? I imagine they will move on to sorting Hex out after NST opens, then we would have Hex, NST, Curse, GG as legitimate dark rides, with support from other indoor attractions like Sea Life. It will certainly make a huge difference to the variety of activities to do at the park.

This will be further supplemented by whatever replaces The Dungeons, and of course Project Horizon bringing us some high capacity flying theatres 🙃

People may moan about the park lacking filler, but I actually think that Alton Towers are getting to be in a really solid position for dark rides now. When Sub-Terra reopens, the park will have 4 dark rides, which I think is a really good tally, personally!

Project Horizon, although presumably a coaster rather than a dark ride, will also really bolster the park’s indoor attraction lineup come 2025, and if the Dungeons is rethemed back into a whole-family boat ride in the years to come (which I could most certainly see happening), that would give the park 5 dark rides and an indoor coaster, which I think is an excellent and well-rounded lineup of indoor attractions, personally!

I've just realised I posted this is in the wrong topic sorry but as from photo slush is £7.50 and £3.75 for a refill :) and is now open.... This was outside Pizza/Pasta 😎

They're still lacking (properly themed) flat rides though.

They are, but 4 years ago we didn’t have GG or NST and Duel was a joke. Plus we also had 3 flat ride spots which were completely empty.

I’m confident things are improving. We’ve got the headliner new attractions confirmed for 2024 and 2025 and now the dark ride situation is much healthier, I can see a few permanent flats popping up in the not too distant future.

A small sinkhole appeared at Towers today.

Alton Towers well today was very unexpected my mother was walking from mutiny bay towards the towers with the family and her foot wen through the tarmac and a sink hole opened up. It started small about the size of a pint glass then when she pulled her foot out it got bigger. It ended up the size of a bucket by the time she had got her foot out. When u looked into the hole you couldn’t see the bottom. She reported it to a female member of staff who didn’t seem bothered so she moved one of the signs to block it so no one else went near it and went and found two other staff who were a lot better and the reported it to management. When they went back past the hole there was about 15 staff members around it. Glad it wasn’t much worse as was only her foot that went down it.

Glad no one was hurt. Sink holes are a fear of mine.

Just received an email offering 2nd day free on hotel stays in June/July.

This is the first offer on accommodation I recall seeing since before the pandemic. Perhaps a sign that hotel bookings aren’t as buoyant as they have been over the past couple of years?
