Dark nostalgia

I mean, the fact they were telling me I would not steal a car, kind of made me want to steal a car to prove them wrong. Plus, the fact that were trying to compare a car theft as being in the same league as little Johnny downloading The Smurfs Christmas Party was what made it comical.

This was a time when the industry was in chaos though and they really did not know how to tackle piracy.

We all had that mate, who could get you pirated DVD's. we had a mate that would place this on the disc aswell. His thinking was, if he was caught he would get off by having this on, as he was warming people about piracy before watching a pirated copy.

The FBI warning on some dvds aswell was a bit strong. "I'm watching this in a house in a village in leeds. I doubt Mulder and Sculley will come bursting through the door, guns draw closing a flip phone. Ready to deport me for watching finding Nemo on a pirated disc, thank you very much!!!"

A good message, but I'm pretty sure the man had already slipped the kid some acid.

The man I'm not concerned about. (Although that walk he has in the distance should ring the nonce alarm straight away) It's what ever the mother his giving him, that leads him to believe a cat follows him around, is able to use a swing and be his moral guidance when called upon.

Not a film, but my brother was given this book when he was about 5. The premise is, dinosaurs are extinct because they did dangerous/silly things… you can’t buy it new any more which is a shame as it got the message across without causing nightmares. IMG_1268.jpegIMG_1270.jpegIMG_1271.jpeg

I'd forgotten all bout this one until it just popped up, now I remeber it being hammered into us.

Whatever you do this summer, don't drink and drive...

I preferred this one, although not publicly funded. One of the earliest adverts I remeber of a business having a genuine socially conscious message and discouraging people using their product irresponsiblely. Good work Holsten Pills.

Good old Jimmy. ***** whipped into retrieving a frisbee.

I'm surprised with the recent influx of beer companies doing 0% stuff, we don't see more of that kind of thing.

Mind you I'm surprised we don't see more of anything to do with the dangers in society as a whole. The pandemic was a case in point. Seriously poor public health information coming out. The 80s had a booming "******* hell it's aids.........be careful people, here's the proper information you need!" Dramatic monolith crashing to the floor. What did a COVID have. "Err wash ya hands, wear a mask don't cough!" Whilst having a camara look at some folk.

Double post. Apologise.

Couple of guys on X/twitter and the Facebook run a page called scarred for life, written a couple of books aswell on 70s onward dark culture which I haven't bought but will do one day. They have started a podcast with Andy Bush of absolute radio, that may be of some interest to a few on here.

T'was a simpler age.

Submitted for all yours approval. I give this nice little film from the United States of the USA. Remember being gay is a sickness and more likely than not will turn you into a communist.

Then in the second world war we get a warning tale of taking unexploded bombs back home for the kids to play with. Since this is the early 20th century, it is law to start any sentence warning someone about the danger they are in with "I say!" Clearly so dangerous is the situation, he feels the need to stand right next him.

Wow! I thought you were joking before I watched it. But it actually does say that "The Homosexual" is a type of mentally ill, murderous peadophile! It's almost like a Harry Enfield scetch.

Is it me, or did the first "Homosexual" look a bit like Jack Nicholson?

Not sure where to put this. So I'm sticking it here.

My slight unhealthy obsession with PIFs has now lead me to watching staff training videos from days gone by. For a couple of us here, and after a post in pet hates about my summers on the isle of dogs. Ladies, gentlemen or whatever you pronoun you are, I give you a 1988 docklands training video.

Usual **** from these. Brown nose workers doing their jobs shyly to camara and ridiculous by the book. Lovely views (just) of the building of canary wharf, the original trains and stations. AND not forgetting horrific late 80s uniform. Seriously, WTF as the kids don't say.

Is it sad that I've already watched that video before? It feels very sad to me.
