Thing is they already had the perfect rollercoaster designed and ready to go, which is why they could concentrate most of their efforts into theming it. Designing something from the ground up to achieve this finish will be a lot more difficult.
 
A couple of years ago I'd have been happy with this being a simple retrack and the station exterior getting a bit of TLC with a bit of a closing mention during the Fireworks event and the park making a song and dance of it reopening in the final couple of weeks of the following closed season.

Instead we've had one of the best marketing campaigns I've ever seen, nevermind just in the world of themeparks, and when that dies down we're left with not only a legendary rollercoaster ready for another 29 years but one that might end up being the best night ride experience around. Exactly what this utter masterpiece of a rollercoaster deserved and then some.
 
I think the eye looks a little underwhelming tbh after thehype. It’s just a screen with an eye animation, the teeth are cool but I thought it would track the train or similar, it’s essentially a gif

True, I guess I’ll have to see it in person tomorrow to fully judge it. I will say that the new station is giving me Black Mamba VIBES. Would love to see some sort of dispatch sequence with lighting and audio

It does sort of track the train, no?
Notice the eye look up as the smoke blasts the train and the tentacles around the eye open up
