Ride Access Pass and Disabled Access - 2024 Discussion

I'm pleased to say I have been offered a freebie scooter for the day...usual goodwill conditions, and must be booked...strictly one off.
Not sure I will take them up on the offer, never used one, wouldn't want the first time to be around ten thousand thoosie ankles.
Slow limp, leaving out the dark forest if required,

Looks like they're now allowing people who already had a ticket booked for Towers opening day before the RAP booking window opened to have a RAP for the day, if you contacted them in the past few days on an email address they gave out (too late now, I think). So, RAP queues probably will still be busy on Saturday. If only they wouldn't have allowed people to book from midnight, they probably would have got away with it...

It will make the queues annoying on Saturday but they really had no choice because of their own incompetence.

Hopefully it will bed in. Still think they need to find a way of merging the ticket booking/ MAP booking with the RAP booking however.

Do you have a copy of the email that was sent out or is this speculation? It seems that *an* email was sent out but has been recalled due to incorrect information
Yes, it was a personal email sent to myself, so it's a first hand account of the situation. I'm not going to copy the whole email out on this forum, as it was addressed to myself and signed off by a member of management at Towers. It was probably copy and paste somewhat, as I expect a lot of people took up the invitation from Towers at the end of last week to contact them if they had already pre-booked theme park tickets before being able to attempt to pre-book RAP. This email has not been recalled and neither have I had another email claiming that any info with it was wrong and then being updated etc.

Basically, on the day, the instructions are to take a copy of the email along to one of the customer service booths or the hotel along with RAP card and personal I.D and then a RAP will be provided for said visit. There was also an apology for the issues caused on the day of RAP booking first becoming available etc.

So RAP will be completely inacessible as ever, sounds like a great and appropriate response from Towers 🫢

There is no other option, I’m ok with this as they should acknowledge their mess. I was just worried they would scrap the new set-up long term.

I will take a messier opening weekend for a more reasonable fireworks weekend.

Any personal or social media reports from how yesterday went at AT?
in terms of rap??? allow me to be of service

so rap queues outside towers street and guest services were l o n g in the morning so i waited to pick them up and just got in the nemesis main queue with my friends (massive group and quite frankly i wasn't gonna leave them all to wait ages for a rap before the "take rap away from him crowd come in" however i picked it up afterwards to continue my day

oblivion rap was walk on
spinball had a wait
galacticas WOULDN'T MOVE
sub terra had to wait for the next group but was fine

nemesis reborn surprisingly was walk on but the time was put as after park closure "9:45" so basically couldn't use it for the rest of the day

Remember there are the smaller Guest Services Hubs around the park, including one in Forbidden Valley. Is Blivvy's ambulant RAP via fastrack as it was last season?

Sounds like RAP is finally functioning based on that description.
The new additional Ambulant RAP queue worked well on Nemesis, and reduced waiting times for the RAP queue for wheelchair - also means more choice of seating instead of the backrow - as the backrow has more adequate seating for users less ambulant and who may require further assistance.

Feels like the Ambulant RAP queue is for Yellow Pass holders, and the main RAP queue for Red Pass holders.

Maybe we'll see this next on 13, as the RAP queue there is still combined and takes far too long (there is a spare queue currently closed on 13 which could reopen next to Fastrack), and yesterday they were calling up Yellow pass holders to reduce the RAP queue quicker, which did cause some complaints from Red Pass holders!

They had to do that on Wicker Man a couple of years ago when I had Red, host was great though explaining why they had to let yellow RAP past me. And actually during covid ambulant RAP were allowed to use the fastrack steps in Thirteen, which was nice.

I don't have the facts or the numbers but I assume Thirteen is always going to be a bit of a nightmare for RAP, Same with Wickerman it seems there are more kids with RAP than Adults so demand for those rides will always be more.

I remember the fasttrack on 13 Ambulant RAP during Covid also and it worked pretty well, hopefully it will be reintroduced to assist with the main RAP queue!

Was the fast track queue in use yesterday?
I won’t comment on the ride to I ride it later in the year but I did watch a live vlog for about 10 mins and I only saw 2 trains left the station in that time.
Yes the fast track was in use yesterday, it combined with the new Ambulant RAP queue, which then combines with the main Queue before the station

The Time on the RAP cards yesterday were anything from 2-3 hours if you used RAP on Nemesis, where as we used RAP on 13 and we got 5 minutes!

It did work very well indeed, although it might have been because not many people knew you could do that. Was walk-on all the times I rode it via that queue.

That doesn't sound right to me. Red Pass means you require a carer but it's not necessarily a reflection on being ambulant.
yeah mine is a red even though i don't need a carer and more than capable of going alone (wonder if i can change it?)

When you renew your RAP photocard you can ask when you collect it and they'll change it if they feel you're suitable. I collected mine last year and they changed it to yellow without hesitation, and just checked that I can ride alone and don't need assistance to evacuate. (which I can).

Actually the full qualifications are:

Red Ride Access Pass – for guests who require a Ride Access Pass due to cognitive conditions or who require assistance boarding or evacuating rides or attractions due to any mobility requirements. Those with a Red Ride Access Pass must be accompanied by a personal assistant / carer who should be able to assist them with boarding a ride or attraction and aid them in the event of an evacuation.

Yellow Ride Access Pass – for guests who do not require the assistance of a personal assistants / carers to board or evacuate rides but due to a medical condition are unable to wait in a physical queue line.

I don’t think there’s any real life impact in you currently having the “wrong” type though beyond the very rare example cited of yellow holders being prioritised in very large lines (which hopefully is a thing of the past with the new changes).

The reason that happens is they're only allowed to have a certain amount of Red RAP users on a ride at once. Yellow is unrestricted.
