That’s true. I grew up wearing boxers as I guess all kids do, so didn’t know any different. Bought pants by mistake when away on a football tour and discovered how much more comfortable they were.I mean, boxers are good for lounging around in...and that's about it, really.

Not sure how old you are, but I certainly didn't. We grew up on pants. I switched to boxers in my teenage years, as t'was the trend at the time. Then something more supportive in my 30's, something even more supportive in my 40's.That’s true. I grew up wearing boxers as I guess all kids do
Underwear I find comfortable is hard to come by, and because you can't return it, I've spent a fortune and now have a large collection of unused undergarments.
Mind you, it'll be those Tena For Men nappies soon enough anyway.

I'm a bit similar to you, in that I grew up initially wearing briefs, but switched to boxers (for clarity, I'm referring to loose-fit boxers here) when I was about 8 or 9 - can't remember exactly why, but I think it just seemed like the natural progression at the time. Started wearing boxer-briefs (a mix of boxer-briefs and trunks) when I was about 15 - much better in my final year of school and going forward, though part of me wishes I'd switched to them a bit sooner! Not sure how old you are, but I certainly didn't. I always wore boxers as a child, usually the loose type with cartoon characters on them! I don’t remember ever wearing pants, they wouldn’t have gone down well in the changing room at school! I only started wearing pants when I bought them by mistake when I was about 17. They are a game changer, especially for football and the gym, but to be honest I wear them them most of the time now, except if I’m wearing jeans when I prefer boxers. Not sure how old you are, but I certainly didn't. Briefs didn't exactly go down well in the changing rooms back when I was in school (finished Year 11 in the summer of 2009), with a bit of ****-taking involved which I had nothing to do with, and it just didn't seem right to me. Interesting to see some things haven't changed, though I guess this could be purely anecdotal evidence from both of us.I always wore boxers as a child, usually the loose type with cartoon characters on them! Some of the lads in my football team still take the **** out of me for wearing pants! Feels like role reversal as I always wore boxers in school and would have laughed if anyone wore pants.Briefs didn't exactly go down well in the changing rooms back when I was in school (finished Year 11 in the summer of 2009), with a bit of ****-taking involved which I had nothing to do with, and it just didn't seem right to me. Part of the reason I never wanted to go back to briefs in school was because I knew there'd be a high likelihood of being the subject of ****-taking, and I didn't want to have to deal with that ****. I just wanted to draw as little attention to myself as I possibly could, and going along with the trends (such as loose boxers) where possible was arguably the easiest way of doing that. Some of the lads in my football team still take the **** out of me for wearing pants! The pants from Next are pretty goodIt's been a slight struggle to find ones that are comfortable for me (I avoid Primark's briefs - the fabric's too thin and the cut just isn't right for me), but I've finally found ones that work well. Will be useful when I gradually have to buy more underwear over the next few years and replace my boxer-briefs with new briefs!

Same here, it was pants in childhood, I don’t think boxers started became popular in the UK until the mid 80’s with the Nick Kamen launderette advert for Levi’s where he strips in to a pair of boxers. But I don’t think boxers for kids was really a thing back then. I reckon I would have got my first pair in my teens round about 1992. Certainly the Marky Mark campaign from Calvin Klein at that time ushered in the modern era of jersey boxer shorts/trunks away from their baggier predecessors. Not sure how old you are, but I certainly didn't. It’s crazy really as loose boxers were the most unsuitable underwear to wear for PE or sports.Part of the reason I never wanted to go back to briefs in school was because I knew there'd be a high likelihood of being the subject of ****-taking, and I didn't want to have to deal with that ****. Yeah that's how I recall it. Pants in childhood, boxers becoming "trendy" to wear as you got older.
I can't ever recall there being boxers aimed at kids. Boxers were more of a "coming of age" thing. There were loads of pants with cartoon characters and superheroes on them however.
I also remember this craze in the early 2000's where every young lady was wearing a thong.

Ah, I have quite a few pairs of briefs from Next already, and they're really good. They've been my go-to in terms of clothing in general for quite a while now, as I find they strike a good balance between price and quality. The only frustrating thing is they don't often do boots in half-sizes, which is a pain when I'm an 8.5 in footwear! The pants from Next are pretty good

Oh yeah, absolutely. The amount of times I had to...ahem...adjust myself during the school day when wearing loose boxers wasn't fun. It’s crazy really as loose boxers were the most unsuitable underwear to wear for PE or sports.
Can't speak for your latter point, but the other two are spot-on from my experience. Given I was never really into superheroes or all that many cartoons, buying clothing in general was sometimes a bit of a challenge for me!Yeah that's how I recall it. Think mine probably came from Woolworths back when that was a thing...All my boxers as a kid had cartoon characters on them, I think my mum got them from m&s in multipacks.
I used to play footy matches in them too, spent half the match with my hands down my shorts trying to put them back into position. Wearing shorts under shorts just feels so stupid nowOh yeah, absolutely. The amount of times I had to...ahem...adjust myself during the school day when wearing loose boxers wasn't fun.

Yes that's it! Woolworths pants and wellington boots. My mum also used to go to Adams for a lot of our childhood clothes.Think mine probably came from Woolworths back when that was a thing...
I hate when this happens, and feel myself having to do this more often. So uncomfortable if you haven't got the right underwear on. Loads of trips to the toilet to do nothing else than readjust yourself to avoid discomfort.I used to play footy matches in them too, spent half the match with my hands down my shorts trying to put them back into position. Perhaps @rob666 is on to something here by opting for no cacks at all. It doesn't help sporting situations when you do need everything held in place however.

Well, I guess we all learn from experience. I don't recall boxers being a huge issue in PE for me, but they probably were. I've just blocked a lot of memories of PE lessons from my mind, as I loathed them for so many reasons. Should've just worn briefs instead, but as mentioned earlier on, that would've opened up a whole world of problems for me in the PE changing rooms.I used to play footy matches in them too, spent half the match with my hands down my shorts trying to put them back into position. Ah, Adams. Now that's a blast from the past I haven't thought about for years!Yes that's it! Woolworths pants and wellington boots. My mum also used to go to Adams for a lot of our childhood clothes.
It's always hard to adjust yourself without drawing attention to yourself at the same time. I recall a number of embarrassing occasions where this ended up happening, and it was really not nice at all.I hate when this happens, and feel myself having to do this more often.
