Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

Personally, if making such a long trek I'd buy the speedy pass every time (if queues are > 20mins)! A bit of careful planning and you're basically just walking from one walk-on to the next. Fortunately most northerners are tighter than a nun's ***** (and I say that, not as a nun, but as a northerner).

(and before anyone complains the ***** stands for HABIT) 😂

I don’t tend to buy Fastrack, as a general rule; I figure that some queueing is part and parcel of the experience, and I go in expecting that. I don’t generally feel Fastrack is necessary with some intelligent route planning.

Besides, I’ve reflected on all of your advice, and am leaning towards a late April/early May midweek visit (I was looking at Wednesday 30th April as an example date), to fill that lovely April-June void between the taught period of my MSc finishing and the dissertation period starting. The thing that sold it for me is that the Big Blue Hotel was less than half the price midweek compared to what it was on a Twilight Thrills Saturday (£67.50 midweek vs £137.50 on a Twilight Thrills Saturday)!

Another query; if I did the old Valhalla in 2019 and didn’t particularly rate it, is the new Valhalla worth doing? If the new changes have majorly improved it, I’d be willing to give it a go, but I’m very hesitant to get that obscenely wet again, particularly if I did go in late April/early May rather than the late August I last rode Valhalla in…
 
I'd recommend Travelodge South Promenade over Big Blue. Half the price and actually near the entrance that'll be open for 99% of the day. Also perfect for nipping back and changing post Unnecessary Wetness: The Ride

Speedypass on offpeak weekdays is a waste of time, as the majority of rides are walk on or less than ten minutes anyway.
With a bit of random planning, I can often get all the coasters done on a quiet weekday/Sunday morning in a couple of hours.

I'd completely second that - it's right outside the park for a cheaper price.

I believe the main difference with new Valhalla is different but epic music, the turnaround goes forwards instead of backwards and you don't get a view outside anymore and there were subtle improvements.

You still get wet though but I definitely did enjoy doing that in Early May.

Valhalla is definitely worth a try at least once, even with a poncho I'd say.

My recommendation though, bring a waterproof phone pouch - Pleasure Beach seems to have this idea where you should bring your phone in the queue to scan into the turnstiles and then expect you to have it on you on the ride due to no bag storage available. It's not rocket science to have bag storage for Valhalla 🚀
 
Valhalla - if I'm goaded into it - is always the last ride for me. With a change of clothes in a rucksack or in the car. I absolutely love Bilge- Rat Barges/Ripsaw Falls at Universal - even wetter - but then you have the Florida sunshine to dry you out quickly.

I still stand behind the Speedy Pass idea if queues are >20 mins. I only visit every couple of years, so if it saves me 1hr I'm happy - I'm old so I'm already queuing for the next life 😁
 
Ok, so how many sad vlogging thoosies will be waiting about two hours for the Streak, and grumbling about it, in about forty seven hours?
First day of the season cometh, and with a pair of nice gentle woodies (Blackpool, really???) open, they will be like flies around a turd.
Can't wait, but I won't be going with the old gits until the whole park is properly running.
So June probably.
 
I really ought to go back to The Beach this year, I enjoyed it in 2023. Low expectations that were absolutely beaten. Might even get to see an old git or two and buy them a pint. Something about having to eat a crevette?
 
Seems the cylinder had been installed on launch pad this morning.

Do we think this will send the ride back to its opening years of better force ? Or it will be tamed ?

I'm actually shocked they're doing it, I was beginning to think it was one of those things that quietly goes under the carpet

Hilarious they've waited until (part of) the park is open. I bet that's why they've kept the usual entrance closed, and routed the Nick land customers in through Watson Road. Which is an incredibly bizarre idea in itself

They've never quite cracked the 'first impressions' thing, have they?

I’d, silly me, presumed all this had been done already. It must be costing them the price of a new tower just in scaffolding hire.
