Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2025 Discussion

I don't think the Beach have ever managed to make one ride the "BIG NEW RIDE" three times before.
Even the Space Invader was only the big new ride twice.

But, it is open and working.
Progress in small steps.
The Gyro Swing could claim that as that is a big ride and if you have ever done the likes of Loki or Tigeran it's gonna be an outstanding ride.

The Gyro Swing will claim to be the big new ride, but only for the first time.

Could I add that I absolutely love the Beach Top Trumps.
Finding an error took me a good half hour, but hell...the search was fun fun fun.

Fantastic afternoon yesterday dippy, company, sun, beer, kebabs and coasters, with no real queues at all...at that special time of year.

Has anyone dared to risk their BPB vlogging accreditation by saying “it’s not different” and be struck from future freebies 😂

I think they missed a trick by not fitting spin shot seats to at least a couple of sides.

Spot on this. There’s still significantly more airtime to be had from other similar rides - the most obvious close contender being only across the border in Yorkshire.

Engineered for maximum power? I don’t think so. Engineered for slightly more power than before, doesn’t quite have the same ring though.

One more, unrelated thing to pick up on, again. The registration of the charge against the Gyroswing does not directly translate to either a new loan, nor a paid off loan. We should stop conflating the two.

Any news on the second Big Dipper train? I believe it was damaged when it ran through the brakes or something like that, last season. Not sure when exactly, but they’ve had like at least half a year surely, to repair the thing. It’s hugely disappointing to see / hear of lengthy queues for this when there should be a second train on it.

Both trains are on.track and they have been swapping them after each weekend (during their closed days). The second train is hidden in the maintenance shed, when I asked why I was told "it's complicated (same response response that was given to coaster dad).
Also to note Launch Pad was being tested quite a bit this afternoon and the river caves boats are no longer in.the car park

The endless reduction of capacity at the Pleasure Beach continues.

No excuse for one train Dipper and Streak. Regularly the case on Avalanche, Icon and Big One too.

So many rides running on one or two trains that any park with any kind of ambition would be running more efficiently. Guest experience worsens year on year.

If the park isn't currently struggling as rumoured, it deserves to be.

Streak makes sense as the second train (as was seen in the car park over the winter) is a complete wreck, plus with no block brakes and only a short section of station brake then not really a viable option.
Avalanche, well as we know train 3 is still in Germany with Mack amd if the word is true that its one big breakdown from closure then I don't think it's coming back, the second train still has no restraints as its "awaiting a part". So not necessarily the parks fault that they're not running 2 trains on either of these.
Dipper apparently as I said in my previous post is "complicated"
But I do agree not a good look for a park of their size

On the subject of poor operations, I visited on Sunday 11th of May with work colleagues and there were reportedly just 1800 people booked on the park. Despite this we managed just 12 rides, largely due to the piss poor operations. Here is an approximate timed run through of the day...

Arrived 10:45 - Dumped change of clothes in lockers ready for Valhalla later, then got the paper tickets printed at guest services.

1.. W&G - Walk on - now 11:00

2.. Nick Streak - 5 minute wait - now 11:15

Headed to Avalanche but it was closed (working on lift hill)

Headed to Steeplechase but that was still closed.

3.. Big One - 40min wait - on one train - now 12:00

4.. Icon - 10min wait - on two trains - now 12:20

Crevettes for a pint - Now 12:40

5.. Big Dipper - 35 minute wait - on one train - now 13:20

6.. Infusion - Walk on - on two trains - now 13:30

7.. Ghost train - 15 minute wait - now 13:50

Headed to lockers to get ready for Valhalla then got in the queue about 13:55 ready for the 2pm opening. Gates opened at 14:10

8.. Valhalla - not many boats - 35min wait. Now 14:50

Back to lockers to get changed. Now 15:10

9.. Launch Pad - 20min wait despite only a small queue, then it broke as we sat on it so a further 10min delay for them to reset everything. Now 15:45

10.. Derby Racer - Walk on but 10minutes waiting for the ride to start. Now 16:00

11.. Avalanche - 40minute wait from just before the bottom of the steps - on one train plus speedy pass and easy pass causing further delays - Now 16:45

12.. Revolution - 5 minute wait

Day finished with 12 rides done on a quiet day and we didn't even stop for lunch. Missed out on steeplechase (which opened around 12pm on 2 lanes)

The Launch Pad operations were abysmal. There couldn't have been more than 30 people in front of us in the queue but it took 20 mins to get on the ride with speedy/easy pass nonsense and a convoluted batching system. Plus a further delay when it broke as we were sat on it waiting for launch.

Only Infusion and Icon on two trains out of the coasters, plus Valhalla only running a handful of boats and not sending any guests round till about 2:20pm. Other rides opening at either 11am or 12pm, and of course Nickland shutting at 4pm and the park shutting up shop completely at 5pm.

On a side note. Valhalla had ZERO fire effects working, not even the arrows or the fake fire near the start of the ride. It wasn't worth the hassle of having to take a change of clothes and the long wait to ride.

The weather was the only saving grace of the day really, plus the pint in crevettes.

Got to remember Pleasure Beach is in a between phase to move onto the future. It will get better.

I am hoping Grand National returns to 4 trains
Its been getting steadily worse year on year for at least the last 10 years, so I have very little confidence that anything is going to change for the better any time soon but I hope you are right before it is too late.

It's in a much stronger position then in 2009 the park nearly went bankrupt that year one of the reasons free to enter didn't work for them

Further changed to prices today with Adult tickets going back down to £30 two weeks in advance but still advertised as from £35 on website. What is strange is that adult and junior tickets are now on sale at the same price as adult tickets every day. If they are doing this what’s the point in two tickets. The pricing and advertised price points on the website are over the place with different prices advertised all over and this will be putting many off booking. If you’re selling adult tickets for £30 why advertise on the same page that they are from £35 as anyone who things £35 is too much won’t get to looking they are actually cheaper. It’s pure madness
On another note must they have money to burn this year as 2-4-1 May bank holiday offer ads are still all over social media over a week after the event, despite numerous people commenting it’s past 5th May. Must be costing a fortune for these when surely they should be adverting May half term and twilight thrills by now.

The pricing structure, like everything else at pleasure beach, is bonkers.

It's gone from £43 to £39 then down to £33 then £30. One of my mates then paid £31.50 and 2 days later another one paid £39 for the same date and now its back to £30 when booked in advance. It is utter madness.

A lot of google / YouTube ads are are for student prices which a lot don’t realise which are 10% less. Ive used the employer rewards scheme as my employer is on the list and you get 10% off but they never check which is also strange when they strict on food and drink but not people getting discounts
