Paultons Park: General Discussion

The mirror have announced Vikings already:

A few highlights;
The area of the land is going to be called Valgard – Realm of the Vikings.

No manufacturer or ride type specified, but the new coaster called 'Drakon' is going to feature a vertical lift with 2 inversions

A flat ride. The Vild Swing will make Paultons Park the first UK theme park to install a thrilling swing by ART Engineering.

Cobra is being rethemed, as 'Raven'

Strong hints towards a water coaster in 2027, but nothing confirmed.

No mention of Edge or Magma.

Given the Wild Swing is ART, I wouldn't be surprised if the coaster is also ART and Paulton's have got a multi-ride deal.

They’ve done it again…

This combined with a new coaster, flat, food offering in 2026 and rumoured water coaster and I assume water coaster for 2027 are pound for pound perfect additions and just show excellent management, decision making and installation.

I have to wonder though, could the “medium” version of one of these be fit somewhere in the towers given the apparent low intrusion build…

my tin foil hat moment is that if it's a gerstlauer I'm expecting it to be an infinity akin to mystic as posted above - if it was a eurofighter surely the main selling point is a vertical/beyond vertical drop and not just a vertical lift

I would also bear in mind the budget of £12m, if that Mirror link is true.

£12m for the entire area (presumably the 2026 part) would imply that the coaster probably won’t be anything overly ambitious, particularly if we see a standard of theming similar to that of Tornado Springs.

Something like Mystic would be a nice install, and a bit different to a Euro-Fighter or any other Gerstlauer already in the country. As others have said, I guess that a Zierer like Impulse at Knoebels (basically a Euro-Fighter built by Zierer) or something from ART can’t be ruled out either.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see! Whatever it is, I am now expecting a continuation of their existing consistent DNA of “buy something more conservative hardware-wise and theme it well”.

Curious if it’s a relative throughput monster for the park…
Yes, but that's because the loading of the cars relies on perfect timing. Otherwise the ride hangs and all the other riders are stuck on scenes, without anything to do. We had a few pauses, nothing major, but it breaks the flow. Lots of quick ushering by the staff. No dilly and dallying allowed.

From the clues available, something like this seems most likely: https://artengineering.de/en/produkte/attraktionen/achterbahnen/mega-coaster/

Must admit I’d never heard of them until today.
The Mirror article stated that the coaster would have a vertical lift but that could make sense if what they are actually referring to is an elevator lift such as seen on Cannibal at Lagoon. That would be a very unexpected but potentially extremely exciting ride to bring to the UK (presumably in a smaller form though given their height limit). Certainly nobody would have this manufacturer on their Paulton’s Park bingo card.
