Ride Availability/Operations 2022-25

Can you imagine a park the size of Oakwood being in a position to order a custom designed ride from Intamin, wait until its manufactured and ready to install then turn around and go "Nah changed our minds, Gerst will build us one with a big drop instead" without serious repercussions?

What’s the rides like in the rain and thunderstorms these days? Unfortunately bringing our son up over the weekend and the weather is looking very wet sadly.

Spinball doesn’t seem to operate at all in the rain anymore. Th13teen seems to be very hit and miss to whether it will be operating.

If there’s thunderstorms in the area everything outdoors will close.

BBC are saying thunderstorms, Met office saying light rain, accu weather rain, apple weather light rain, so who knows! Not sure which weather site is most accurate for towers!

Downtime can often be caused by guest behaviour/illness during this period too.
That's what so many armchair theme park managers conveniently forget when they have a go at Towers about downtime on social media - that a fair percentage of downtime is nothing to do with their level of maintenance of rides or [potential lack of] engineers on the day etc, but the fact that guest illness or guest sheer stupidity can cause many stoppages.

Especially with the sheer volume of school trips there are this week.

Is Spinball Whizzer on reduced capacity today or something? It’s currently on an oddly high queue of 70 minutes when nothing else in Thrills is exceeding 45:

Given it’s 11:30, I’d have thought the “near the entrance” effect should have passed by now… I haven’t seen it on the highest queue time in the park in years!
EDIT: It’s gone up even further to 80… and seeing as everything in Family bar Get Set Go is in the green queue times and nothing else in Thrills is exceeding 45, it does not appear to be an overly busy day on park!

Summer holidays...add an hour.
Answered your own question.
Wicker Man is also near the entrance, however, and that’s only on 45!

Granted, its capacity is somewhat higher, but even still, Spinball being on 80 when nothing else is exceeding 45 seems odd… it’s years since I’ve seen it on the highest queue time in the park by that much of a margin, if ever!

Maybe it is running on silly rules in the rain again.
All will be shut soon with the forecast!
Not a weekend for outdoors, it must be the start of the school holidays.

Despite the constant rain all day today all the rides were open except Rita and curse went down for 5 hours due to tech problems with the cars - according to the guy in the shop next to it.

The rain put a lot of guests off visiting so the queue times were quite low too today. We actually had a very good day and thought ops did a great job in the challenging weather.

Absolutely dead on park today. Was here on Tuesday and comparatively a very different story!
No movement over at Rita but screens and audio still playing- Alton Towers must not have a smart meter as that’d be the first thing I’d switch off!

No thunder and lighting yet!
